If you can't help the guy then please stop polluting the thread with useless comments.

One warning only.

THANK YOU!

The one closest to me uses 67Hz, one down the highway uses CSQ, and a few others I've been to use 88.5Hz. I've never heard them use a DCS tone but it varies. If you have a radio capable of FPP like a Baofeng, it's pretty easy just to flip through the tones until it opens the squelch.

Good luck. :p

Curious, if Wal Mart is using the DSR Motorola "Frequency hopping" radios, thats fine and dandy, but I am confused, as I see they only offer them in 2 and 4 channels, so how much "frequency hopping" can they really do, with only 2 or 4 frequencies to "hop around" on?

Channels != frequencies. The DTR radio channels are a defined hop sequence / group code. There are mnany more hop sequence options than channel slots.

The information is on numerous threads already with 2 of the corporate tone sets. One being mostly defunct. This is what comes from corporate. Anything different is changed by a store manager or LP locally.

Channels 1 and 2 are csq though a store may use a tone if problem exists.

Last I heard they are slowly going to go to the DSR 900 mhz hop handhelds equipment overtime. Last I Seen the codeplug was capable of being locked which is what is being done on the ones already using DSR.

Here is the murs vhf setup for informational purposes only. Local stores can and may change tones at managers discretion though most who don't have a issue leave it as is. The information is already here if one searched.

Corporate does have a internal policy on use of non authorized equipment so use would fall solely on the employee themself for using non authorized store property on the job. They sign these forms when hired though most don't ask for the complete legal break down forms when they sign a basic page explaining store policies and company policies. Most using those baofeng are doing so at their own discretion.

Ch1 154.570 csq (or LP/managers discretion)
Ch2 154.600 csq (or LP/managers discretion)
Ch3 151.820 131 dpl
Ch4 151.880 131 dpl
Ch5 151.940 131 dpl
Ch6 154.570 131 dpl
Ch7 154.600 131 dpl
Ch8 151.820 250.3
Ch9 151.880 250.3

If 1 and 2 use a tone someone changed them locally most likley your store manager who pretends and avoids the question to be out of legal or issues with corporate. But If They Aren't Csq Someone Changed It in your management. Corporate legal would be ones to allow/deny use of non authorized equipment not the store manager.

Or you could use a scanner with Close Call to see the frequency and tone/code option used in a second or less.

I need the code on my radio so they can here me not the other way around

I posted what comes from corporate lineup. If anything is different tone wise someone locally at your store changed them and is holding out on you and most likley avoids the question to clear themself of issues.

If the models are the typical rdu or variety the tones should be visible by the menu per channel.

I can confirm Channel 06 154.570 DPL131 at one of the local Walmart* stores in my area. My wife and I were shopping at Walmart* over the past weekend and I happened to get a closeup look at one of the radios. It was the display version of the RMM2050 MURS radio, I don't recall the exact model of the display version. The RMM2050 MURS radio is the non-display version. The radio's display showed CHAN 06 and I was listening to them on 154.570 DPL131 on my BC396xt. The Walmart* store we were shopping at had the display version and non-display version radios in use.

My wife and I were using DLR1060 radios while we were shopping and they worked excellent. (DLR, not DSR BTW) They were actually somewhat overkill for our needs since a pair of FRS bubble packs would have worked just fine. I recently had a coworker ask me why not use FRS instead. I said that I've been doing that for the past 22 years since FRS was created in 1996 and longer than that on GMRS using good Part 90/95 commercial gear. I want to use high quality radios that are all digital and more professional than FRS. My DLRs and DTRs have completely replaced my use of GMRS/FRS and MURS for local on-site simplex type use because they work so well. I still have GMRS/FRS/MURS as backups.

The DLR radios and the older DTR radios operate unlicensed in the 902-928 MHz band under Part 15 with an output power of 890 mW (+29.5 dBm). The applicable FCC rule is 15.247. Radios operating under 15.247 in the 902-928 band are required to use a minimum hop set of 50 frequencies and an output power (conducted measurement) of no more than 1 W (+30 dBm). The DLRs and DTRs are FCC certified at +29.5 dBm to have 0.5 dB margin under the legal limit to account for measurement uncertainty and individual variation from unit to unit. The maximum accumulated dwell time on any given hopping frequency is 400 ms per 15.247. The DTRs and DLRs spend no more than 90 ms at a time on any given frequency in the hop set and the maximum accumulated dwell time is well under the 400 ms legal limit. IOW, the frequency hopping is well spread out over the entire 902-928 band. The digital modulation used on a given hopping frequency is an 8-level FSK modulation scheme and uses Motorola's VSELP vocoder. The short summary is forget about trying to monitor these on any consumer grade receiver (i.e., scanner) because you can't.

If Walmart* is actually migrating to DLR radios (DLR = Digital Lightweight Radio), I'm not surprised. Walmart* corporate is probably well aware of all of the problems with using MURS. If they are using DLR radios at their default programming as they come out of the box, they are monitorable with another DLR radio or DTR radio. No programming is needed to use them right out of the box. I suspect most DLR users will use them at their factory default programming just like FRS bubble packs. The Business Radio CPS (free download from Motorola) and a programming cable ($40) is needed to customize features. If Walmart* custom programs their DLR radios, then forget about being able to monitor them with another DLR or DTR radio. While not encrypted, they can be made VERY secure. I have customized my DLR and DTR radios by setting up a Private Group for them but have kept the rest of the programming as close as possible to the factory defaults so I can listen for other DLR and DTR radios operating at their factory default programming.

As for "locking" the DLR codeplug, YES, it can be done in the CPS. It's a 4-digit password you program in the CPS. The codeplug password has to be entered when trying to read a radio with the CPS. This suggests Walmart* is customizing their DLR radios with the CPS so basically you can forget about trying to monitor them with another DLR or DTR radio (because you can't).

Anyhow, CHAN 06 154.570 DPL131 confirmed at my local Walmart* store.

The display version is the RDM2070d. At least, that's the one at my local store. They used to have non-display as well and even a few MagONE BPR40 radios in use. Now it's just the RDM2070d units. Somewhere online, I found a listing of the frequencies most of the Walmarts in my area used but I don't remember where I found it.

My Walmart doesn't use any tone to transmit. Anyone can hear them on 154.570. But they won't hear you unless you break their squelch with the right tone. Get it now??

Then how do they hear each other if none of their radios transmit a CTCSS tone???

I confirmed CHAN 06 is 154.570 DPL131 in the list published a few posts back. If a few other people can confirm some of the other channels, I think we can assume the list to be accurate. The OP should then have enough information to program his radio.

This is the listing in the manual for the RDM2070d. CHAN 6 is as noted and I know CHAN 1 is the same frequency with no PL tone.

Mrbadness, it's apparent that there all kinds of possibilities because there is no uniformity in Walmart's communications system. You have been given some examples of stores all over the country but no one knows the correct numbers for your particular store. No one in this forum is obligated to solve your problem but many have tried to help you. It's time for you to try the examples and see if they work. One of them may be the "silver bullet" you're looking for.

the numbers

i have gone to all the walmarts in port charlotte and go around watching all the pl codes change as everyone talks.
it would seem they don't use it to receive.
if they don't know your voice, they won't talk back.
