• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

this is just my 02.but if your crews are in the field wouldn't it be alot cheaper to have someone carry a portable weather radio and have him make an annoucement when a alert comes out or even a scanner with same technology. i use to drive for a cab company that had a weather alert radio and we sould get the weather warnings sent over our mdt's in the cabs by the dispatcher and over the two way radio dispatch channel.

It probably would. But you can't always guarantee that said person will carry it on him might get left in the truck, the battery might go dead, it could get lost, it could be dropped and break into tiny little pieces. I think what the OP what's to accomplish is a good idea. Some times the cheap way isn't the best way especially when some one is trying to watch out for the safety of others.

Another idea would be depending on the type of radios issued to the employees. You can always program two wx channels in the radio one they can switch to to listen to the broad cast, and another set up for quick call and set that channel with the 1050 hertz tone I believe and have the radio in scan mode. But off course don't program the open wx channel in the scan list. I know this method might now work all the time depending on how active the repeater channel is. But its just a thought.

Question to the OP. Are there mobiles in stalled in the vehicles?

What are you using for a controller?? NHRC and CAT Auto both have weather receiver options. But i don't know of any standalone that could be wired to any repeater.

ICS also has a controller which is a dual port and can link a weather receiver to either port. The linker 2a is also priced cheaper than cat or nhrc, and uses better quality components.
