I used to be able to easily listen to the West Point TRS on my Pro-96. I upgraded to a Pro-106 and now I can't hear them anymore.

On my Pro-96 I had it set for MOT trunking with a base of 136.000 offset of 0 and step of 12.5. Heard it all the time.

Now on the Pro-106 I have tried it as a P25 system a MOT VHF and have tried both the above settings as above as well as an offset of 380 as I see someone changed the database. It has been a while since I had this working, but I had it working with an offset of 0.

I am picking up the control channel on 138.3375 loud and clear. It looks like it is decoding the control channel (the pro-106 has the "T" in the display when it is analyzing a control channel) but it doesn't seem to track any talk groups.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for the feedback.

Tried a couple of different settings and got one VC to decode when using an offset of 0 which is what I originally had in my Pro-96. It is possible that there just wasn't a lot of traffic, but I will keep experiementing and see what I get. Hopefully whoever changed the database to an offest of 380 will read this post and provide some guidance as to what the real settings are. Just because I am getting hits with an offset of 0 doesn't mean it is correct, but I was getting nothing with an offset of 380.

Use P25 Auto for Type setting. In a very few P25 systems the control channel will not decode T-Tables data. However, after running system as Auto for 10 seconds, use menu and change T-Tables to Custom from Default. Then SEL and check Table 01. It may have more table entries but but ChLo should be listed as 0, ChHi as at least 4096 but could be up to 65535, Offset 0, Base 136.0000, Step 12.5.

If West Point is one of those few which doesn't decode data (IOW nothing listed as above), then set table 01 as:
ChLo=0
ChHi=65535
Offset=0
Base=136.0000
Step=12.5

Yes,

Thanks. That is exactly how I had it set last night when I picked up at least one transmission. Of course these settings are different from what is in the database. I will try it again during the day to see if there is more activity. If I remember when I had it working, it was never really very active anyway.

It is one of those things that I don't normally listen to as it is not all the interesting, but as part of the hobby evey now and then I like to try to listen. That's when I noticed it didn't see to be working right on the new radio.

Also, offset 380 is a Motorola trunking channel scheme. I.e. channels 380 to 759.
P25 in this scanner runs from 0 to 65535 in increments of 4096. Could be 16 total custom T-Tables.
4096
* 16
=65536
However, first channel is 0 rather then 1 so final is 1 number less then 65536.

In subsequent tables, ChLo/Offset is always 1 number less then previous table ChHi number.

The database is correct .

Please remember this is a holiday week and traffic on the system is limited.

Two suggestions:
Assume you are talking about West Point (USMA)
1) Hopefully everybody is on Thanksgiving break.
2) They may have move to a Military encrypted system.

I am getting very little traffic, but I am getting some.

This means the database may not be correct. I am now using an offset of 0, the database lists an offset of 380. I was getting nothing with 380.

I will continue to listen to see if traffic picks up on Monday and if the talkgroups seem to match up.

BTW, this all started when I was trying to pick up Highland PD on this system and noticed I coulnd't hear anything. Now that I am getting some traffic, Highland PD is not comming in. Does anyone know if they are really using this system for full time dispatch or is this a Liason frequency between highland and the academy? It could be possible that the traffic is carried on only one site and I can only pick up the other.

Here is what I use on my Pro-106 for that system and it works fine:

LOW CHANNEL- 0
HIGH CHANNEL- 4095
OFFSET- 0
BASE FREQ- 136.000
STEP- 12.500

Bob

Update-
Have been scanning the system for 20 min. now and just got the first transmissions-
Justice 16 talkgroup 1506
A car was stopped for cell phone use
The control channel is 139.3375
I also hear the other zone which is using 138.0375 for the control channel
not as strong as the other zone, however

The Highlands PD is a link to them for the military. Highlands PD operates on the county system. This time of year WP is quiet except for the football games and other special events so that would explain the lack of transmissions.

Yes, only one other transmission since the last one. Another car stop.
So not much at all like you said.
