Hi all, I'm located in Venango county and was wondering if anybody does any lowband monitoring in the western half of the state. I know Venango no longer has any lowband and was under the assumption that most of the counties around me except maybe Warren had all switch to either UHF or trunking, but this morning as I was leaving for work I heard what sounded like plectron tones on one of Crawfords old lowband channels. Not sure which one as I was driving and couldn't catch the frequency fast enough but saw Crawford and 33.xxx freq. Never caught a dispatch on the UHF system so was wondering if maybe I picked up skip or if there's still lowband in use. Thanks!

With the current warm front moving through, ducting is probably what you had heard.
Possibly but this was @ 0530 this morning before the front came. Also for anyone else forgot to ask if you are monitoring the lowbands are you listening to just fire/ems or do you have businesses and power cos as well. I've done an FCC search for 50 air miles and see quite a few of them and wonder if they're still active.

Elwood City Area Fire Dispatch on 33.82 maybe. Lawrence County would not be far fetched. But I am not sure but just a thought.

That's how it works brother, when the front pushes through, ducting picks up! It doesn't happen right as the front comes through.
