RadioShack PRO94. I used that scanner for quite a while, before I got my PRO95, which was in turn retired when I got my PRO96, which was retired when I got my BC396, and when I got my PSR500...

My current scanner is the GRE PSR 500 which is light years ahead of anything else I've tried in handhelds.

My first was RS pro 38(re packaged BC 55xlt).
Then added AOr AR880 which I sold for a BC200xlt. I wish I still had 1 of these.
After my 200 died I went to a RS havdheld I can't remember the model but I was junk and in for repair too much so I got a Pro2039 which I still use as my unitrunker receiver.
I added a Pro96 which I had for about 9 months and got my current 396.

my rank of favorite to least
1. 396
2. ar880
3. BC200xlt
4. Pro38
5. 2039
6. the one that died under a year from RS.

Well someone beat me to the BC100 photo, but here are a couple of my first TRUE scanner. A Midland 13-904 4 channel VHF crystal controlled. Runs on 4 AA or a 6VDC input. Even allowed NiCads.

Audio was really pretty good as well. Basically I liked this unit.

My First "scanner" was a tunable shortwave radio with a VHF Public safety Band. (in1967).
Then i moved up to the Radio Shack Pro-4 (in he mid 70's )handheld crystal scanner. then on to a RCA 8 channel UHF/VHF/Low band desktop/mobile rig.. then came the Bearcat BC210 and a Pro-2005(with a opto456), now i own to many to list(mostly Unidens and Icoms).... most all are pc controlled receivers and scanners, although the wife & I have a good collection of rock bound rigs, we are building up a early scanner collection with.

my first scanner.

My first scanner that I bought for myself was the Pro-95 back in late 2002 when it went on sale for $150.00, At the time it was $100.00 off of it's original price. And to extend this story a little bit, I went into the local FD to get their freq's, That's what eventually got me involved in EMS. 2 great hobbies, Scanners and EMS.

RS Pro-2066, which I bought new about 10 years ago and currently have up for sale. When I worked at RS, I would occasionally "test" the display models overnight. This is when RS still was *Radio*Shack and not CellPhone Shack. We must have had 7-8 models of scanners in stock at any given time. Usually 3 handhelds , 2-3 base station/home models and 1-2 mobile ones. I installed a scanner antenna on the roof of our store so we could let customers hear more than what the crappy rubber duck or telescoping antennas were capable of.

Realistic PRO-31

Another avid scanner monitor here, who got his start by listening to trains.

Started with a PRO-31 10 channel handheld, given to me as a Christmas present from my wife when I thought I "needed" a scanner to listen to the traffic on the Pope's Creek subdivision of Conrail (now CSX) here in southern Maryland.

Realistic

Mine was a Realistic 4-channel crystal handheld. I'll never forget how excited I was to discover that I could actually listen in on the fire and police. That excitement is still there today even though scanning is alot more complicated.
