Yep, a generic LLC with no real ownership info. Anyone want to try and order something from the generic cookie cutter web store and see how fast your CC gets charged from China, Senegal or India?
Me too. I have 2 scanners ready to send in. Patience. It will be interesting to see if they continue to offer the legacy upgrade.
Lets give them a chance and see where they go and what they offer. Both products and services.
If I remember correctly, Escort Radar Detectors came from Ohio.
I met a guy at IWCE who bought the rights to the "Nextel" brand from Sprint. For $350. He was reselling PTToC with Chinese radios. He got the yellow banner, stylized logo and all IP rights associated with it . Anyone can buy scraps left over from a failing or failed private company. Being that Whistler was a private company, the details of the actual sale aren't public. The owner(s) may have seen brand value in the name. But at this point, that is all it is.The fact that they bought the company is interesting ! And I hope they are going to legitimately do something with whistler scanners instead of pissing in the wind ? But why buy a company if you're not going to do anything with it ?
If your post #29 was in response to my post #28 above, I had absolutely no intention of actually purchasing a TRX-2 or giving them my credit card/banking information. It was simply a test to see if their "new" website was fully functional to process orders and payments at this time. From the information I posted above, they cannot process payments at this time and it makes no mention on their checkout page as to when they will be able to do so.I would not be giving any unknown site any personal identifying information, let alone credit card/bank info. One is just asking for it. Would one just go out and write this on a piece of paper and leave it in a mall food court? Or a park? Why do people do this on the Internet? Just because someone bought a name? Wow. Some folks like to live dangerously.
If I remember correctly that guy "bought" it from a guy that said Sprint abandoned the name and he just took it over and sold licenses to use the Nextel name. Pretty sure Sprint disagreed and it went to court (or the trademark court or whatever it's called).I met a guy at IWCE who bought the rights to the "Nextel" brand from Sprint. For $350. That's the guy. That was back in 2017, at IWCE. I figured T-MoSprintNextel would want their golden child egg back.If I remember correctly that guy "bought" it from a guy that said Sprint abandoned the name and he just took it over and sold licenses to use the Nextel name. No one is twisting your arm, prices are what they are,if no one buys maybe they'll go down, but I doubt it. It is almost like the used BC125AT on sale in the classifieds priced higher than a new one on Amazon. They can't be serious with those sky-high prices listed on their website for those old Whistlers scanners. They are all +10 years old now! If they cut the prices by 50%, I might be interested in buying something.![]()
