Almost certainly you'll have to do the same as on the desktop VLC:

rtsp://192.168.1.1/au:scanner.au (replace the IP address with the actual IP address of your scanner

vlc solution to choppy audio in dongle stream

By default, VLC media player is configured with a very small caching buffer. This can lead to choppy playback initially but it will eventually smooth out over time as VLC automatically increases the size of this buffer. To set the default cache size to a more reasonable value, do the following:

1.Open VLC media player.

2.On the Media menu, click Open Network Stream.

3.At the bottom of the Open Media dialog box, select the Show more options check box.

4.Set the Caching value to a higher value such as 2000 ms.

5.Enter the URL of the stream that you want to play in the Please enter a network URL field and then click Play.

Note: The Caching value that you set is retained between VLC media player playback sessions and restarts.

FYI - The VLC Streamer from Hobbyist software works well on both the iPhone and iPad. After setting up the free helper application on your PC, you connect to your PC via the app and simply enter the rtsp://192.168.1.x/au:scanner.au address (using your scanner IP) under "open internet stream" in settings.

Jeff: If you set in AP mode, then it would be direct to the scanner.

Or, if you set in infrastructure mode, then it would be to the scanner via the local network.

Either will work (assuming both the scanner and phone are connected to the same network).

You don't have to Connect to your PC. You can go right to the scanner over WiFi.

App >settings >open internet stream and inter rtsp:// scanner IP/au:scanner.au supper easy

Here's one for ya...trying to update the damned dongle and all I get is an error message. It is giving me an exception error. Access to the update is denied and is telling me how to use JI debugging. This gets more and more fun every time!

You need to run the program as administrator. As in right click go to properties then compatibility tab then check mark run as administrator.

Remote Head not working

That indicates you're not connected. When you successfully connect to your scanner, all the "label##" fields will be replaced with details, and the middle of the screen will have three large bars mimicking the three lines of the display - the system, department, and channel lines. And in the upper left you'll see your own favorite list values instead of x's.

What is the IP address of your scanner?

I can get VLC to stream but no luck with the Remote Head app, I even copy & pasted my IP address from the working VLC player to the Remote Head app also tried turning off my Firewall.

Any Ideas?
Mike

I surrendered. Got the dongle upgraded. Scanner is connecting to my router. I have no clue what I'm doing with VLC as I have typed the scanner IP in there but nothing happens.

In the RH536 application, enter only the IP address, not "rtsp" nor the scanner.au bit. Only the part that is similar to 192.168.0.40. Don't use "search for scanner"; just enter the IP address and hit OK.

Copy this (what is within the brackets, and not the brackets) [rtsp://***.***.***.***/auscanner.au] to the VLC select media select open network share in the url space. Replace the * (shift 8) with the address shown on the 536 Wi Fi info. More than likely it will start with 192.

Jay, and UPMan my prior access issues was a self inflicted "read only". Once I had the time all went well.

Thank you,
