Windows 7 SP 1 Error

Anyone else getting the windows 7 SP 1 error when trying to download from windows updates? I have been searching around and it seems this is a wide spread problem. Im currently downloading it through the windows updates website so il see how it go's.

What error are you getting? Their servers were overloaded with people trying to download it yesterday, thus causing slow downloads or no downloads.

Error 80200053. From what i have seen its common:

Windows 7 service pack 1 gets to 18% complete and then Error Code is 80200053


I hope that manually installing it from the update site fixes it.

I see the same thing when trying to download it from windows update. Either the server is too busy or there is a false end of file in the download.
Doing the manual download and update will probably work although the download is about 50% bigger than the update download according to the TechNet information.
I have been running a SP1beta machine for several months and can tell absolutly no difference although the information is that the biggest change with SP1 is the way it handles virtualization. I really have not done more on the SP1 box than throw a virtual XP and Ubuntu on it to play with.
It has been long enough since I built this Win7 box that I am thinking a new hard-drive and a fresh spin with SP1 would be in order anyhow ;-)

Now where did I leave those Round Tuits?

:evil:I have now tried two times to install the service pack1 by Windows Updates and bothe times I have been greeted with,
Failure Configuring Service Pack 1
Reverting Changes

The other box that comes up is,
Unspecified error
ERROR E_FAIL (0X8004005

Every time this happens it's another hour of time wasted
I have shut off Microsoft Security essentials
and made sure nothing else is running but can not install the Service Pack 1
any ideas out there to fix this problem and stop wasting time.

Im doing that now. Still have close to an hour to go.

Thanks so much I thought that was the one but was not sure, I'm downloading it know and will try and install it, I will let every one know how it goes.

The error message seemed to be more due to the overload of the update servers than anything. I updated four computers in the household yesterday, got one more to do but the server was so painfully slow that i gave up on that one, figured wait a day or two and then try again after the slowdown.

This used to happen with Vista and XP all the time also, service pack releases and everybody in the world set to auto update starts downloading.

I would definitely recommend to anyone who just has to have it now to use the standalone. I have finished downloading it and it is currently installing.

Also remember to keep auto update on, for those that didn't the SP1 update is like 800mb where as those that did regularly update only have about 80mb to download.

I dont see why. I did it and it work flawlessly for me.

The problem is Windows does not tell me what the problem is so I can make the change so it's happy.

I honestly don't know what to tell you. These are not the error i was getting or the ones others were getting. Somewhere there seems to be an issue with windows...maybe someone who has some experience with this will chime in.

I want to thank you for all your help and trying to get the install to work for me , I will try everything on the web page you found, I was just in the process of using google to see if I could find any information my self.

Both my HP desktop and HP Laptop needed this update today. Did one at at time, took a looooong time to download and install on both but ultimately after a while they finally completed downloading and installing, took about 2 ours to get both done.
