• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I hope all you modders are considering the fact, when you make these radios transmit where they aren't designed, they may transmit illegal harmonics. You need to sweep them with a spectrum analyzer after you do your work.
I haven't seen where anyone is suggesting more than simply changing out an antenna. That's not really likely to introduce harmonics...

Well, the thread is full of people wanting to operate them on VHF, 220, the like....

Now, of course, a simple mod to add a different antenna, for use on design frequencies is most certainty a commendable endeavor, however :)

The beauty of the WLN KD-C1 is that is fits in your pocket so nicely with the integral antenna.

If you want a better antenna, just get an $11 BF-888. It comes with a removable/replaceable/upgradable rubber duck antenna.

Hans13, that application says part 15 ... which ironically is for radiated commissions on receive only... something that even a commercially produced ham rig needs.

It will be interesting if it is approved, since it covers much more than the ham bands in the appellation.

There may be another (maybe yet to be submitted) application to cover part 90 floating around someplace?

Yep, I was aware... Part 15. AFAIK, it was granted for Part 15 but I could be misreading.

I never did find the other thread here on RR that had more pics. Searching using different key words came up with the ones I already have seen.
Sadly, I haven't been able to find that post either. I even did an extensive search via Google looking at all of the images indexed for the one showing the way the poster installed the BNC connector and hot glued it in place.

All the posts relating to the WLN radio, under whatever branding, should maybe be put into one place since it appears to be quite a popular little transceiver.

I don't think I will mess with the antenna just yet, it looks like it is doing it's job adequately so far.

It looks like it WAS approved. The Part 15 grant shows up at the fcc site.

WLN KD C1

I have bought a pair of KD-C1 radios.
Appeared to be a high quality crafted ones - very slim and compact, good durable plastic case, USB or cradle charging, Li-Ion Nokia BL-5C batteries compatible (with small modification), 16-channel programmable via native software (available from Zastone), K-type (Baofeng) port for accessories and programming (not programmable via USB), English annunciation, VOX, Scan, Monitor, accessories included.
Tested transmission range - 2 kilometers (through shrubs and small trees).
Antenna is short and integrated (may be a drawback, but there is almost no chance to break it).
Overall, worth the money for 100%. I'm satisfied and recommend it.

Use the link listed earlier for software and the use the same Kenwood type cable used for the baofeng radios. Works well. No issues

The question was posted way before CHIRP had supported it.

I have found in my experience that it pays to read the responses before replying to an older thread :) but thanks for the great reply anyway.

Original question. Not the poster I was responding to. But passive-aggressive thanks back at ya ;)

wln kd-c1 software

I just bought a cheap UHF 16 channel transceiver to be used as a scanner since everything here worth listening to is UHF.
It is a WLN KD-C1 and the manufacturer appears to be Quanzhou Kelly Electronics Co., Ltd., and I can't find the manufacturers website to make an inquiry.

Locating the programming software on the internet has resulted in an exercise in futility. I would think that since these are being sold on eBay, it would be somewhat easy to find.

Does anybody know where to find the programming software?

i have the software downloaded a few months ago. can't recall the site but i can send it to you thru email
my email is mcdelapazjr@gmail.com

Hi Folks,
I have several rt22. I love them. Now I have a question. Are there any news about the extended Frequency range?
Does ist really works on the other Freqs? VHF and 1,25m ...
Is there a chance to expand the freq. with Chirp?

Thanks in advance for your informations.
I wish you all a happy new year. 73
