The Worcester System seams to be turned up(Volume) like the old EDACS system was. I think that may be why it does not sound as good.

What I saw was inconsistent volume on different talkgroups and even some users on the same talkgroup -- unlike FiRST where everything was a constant level.

So it appears they've now connected the two systems (at least, since the last time I was there).

I am confused...I am in Ocean City and using https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=9796

According to the database that is where the Fire / Command channels go. (14020-14025).

I am seeing no activity except for an occasional 13870 talk group and 14081/14091. Those aren't even listed.

I haven't found any Fire / EMS on P25 at all.

Thanks. I thought I looked there at the freq I used last year (857.2375) and I didn't see any activity (or signal). I just looked again and don't see anything.

They have 11 Freq that they can use on edacs. I’m not sure at this point what they are using as control channel. Some of the EDACs channels are turned off and being used on the p25 system.

Not sure what radio you are using, but it's best to program all the freqs. I used the old Worcester / Ocean City EDACS system last month to follow them. The OC P25 system won't be operational until after the summer, but it does have some patches from the EDACS system.

I am using Unitracker - it looks like they moved the control channel to 10 (from 11). And they are only using 7 channels - LCN 3,5,7,8,9,10(c),and 11. (Ocean City site 1).

EDIT: I am hearing OCFD now.

A Harris system - which is only a few months old (actual use) and still "under construction" (waiting for the final/last minute needed tower to be built) - and the complaints and finger pointing have started already.... and now the county wants to spend more money to understand why they are having problems....

Anyone in the area that knows more about these "interference" issues they are having? The article really didn't provide any detail....

They have been having interference issues for years. Ocean City more so than Worcester. They are right on the ocean with generally flat land and can see both north and south.

We knew OC had those issues and supposedly was one of the reasons they acquired some new 700 mhz frequencies.... Worcester (and/or their vendor) didn't feel they needed to address that same problem if they knew it existed? Hmmm.....

Are there any thoughts as to specifically where the interference is coming from (or just looking at it as too large a problem to solve)?

Looks like interference from VA Beach, City of Hampton, and NJ State Police.

Interesting in so many ways....

I like the one "issue" listed where iCalls aren't being carried across the county and OC systems (says Harris has never developed a solution like/for that) - or maybe better a complaint from users that they have to "speak directly into the mic".

The system went live in February knowing they needed another tower and it wasn't until June that parts needed got ordered?

From what I'm reading, in the contract, "interference" is a "county problem" (not the vendor). If it was always a problem, it sounds like no one was addressing it all along.

Now the county is paying for a 3rd party to come in and determine that they have interference and how to solve it all these years later.... hmmmm...

I see legal action coming in the future over who is going to cover all these extra costs.

I have heard that even MDFiRST is having interference issues on the 700Mhz frequencies in that area as well.

So it is not just a Worcester County issue.

Hmmm, perhaps the RPC processes do not adequately consider near shore topology? It's almost *unfathomable* that technical authorities and design consultants do not plan for interference vectors that are not new...
