Whew! All the trunked categories have been mapped to their individual states. Now for the (hopefully) easy part - the cleanup

It's been a long road, but I think we're finally starting to see some benefits. Look how easy it is now to find FTO and RID information - all broken down by state. No more having to dig through 500+ articles to find one little one.

And once I build some tables, it will be equally easy to see what states have trunk systems with unidentified talkgroups.

Let's worry about breaking the businesses up by state next year - that's going to be a huge job, although not nearly as big as the one we just did.

Another huge job waiting in the wings is to clean up the 'Trunked Radio Systems' category. There are several articles that actually have talkgroup, radio ID and other data all clumped together. That's not good for structural purposes, never mind being able to expand those topics if they happen to get longer in nature.

So that we have a 'database-like' structure to these pages, each of these should have the appropriate infobox on them (Federal, Military or Trunking)

It would be a very tedious project but one that would clean up and expose a lot of data that's currently 'hidden'

Bob W9BU if Lindsay is asking about long-term wiki projects for 2014, this one, along with cleaning up the business category and allocating them by state, are 2 quite sizable ones for the list

Since there seems to be a rise in interest in finding Fire Tone Out (pager) tones, and to correct some misconceptions on the part of some db managers....

We store all fire tone out information in our wiki - so please do not submit this to the database team via the submit button (as I just saw one well-known DBA recommend). You can easily find this information by looking at the following page...

Collaboration Categories Page 2 - The RadioReference Wiki

Simply go to the Scanner Information table and select 'Fire Tone Outs by State'. You will then be presented with a list of states - select the one you want and you will see a list of counties.

This is a member-edited database - meaning if you see errors, or want to add some FTO information, please feel free. There is no mandated format to be followed - just make it readable and that's fine.

I'm here a lot
For those of you involved with the new presentation of the Collaborations Categories. Bravo!

I haven't utilized that page in a while and I admire what you have done. Who knew that one could gentrify the WIKI pages? :)

Yeah it now has a somewhat more 'database' like structure. Problem is we have an elephant in the room - that business category is now HUGE. It's going to take a significant effort to get that under control....thanks for the kind words....and don't forget that QDP2012 and W9BU had their hands in this, too Mike

I take no credit. Mike and QPD came up with the idea and executed it. I was merely the cheerleader.
