Hey...if whoever posted this info to the database could give me an e-mail at tvfd700@yahoo.com maybe we can figure out the info for the rest of the TGs they've give Putnam County. I'm pretty sure we were doing the testing on Talk 2.

Was driving through Oak Hill this morning and caught Monroe County contacting Nicholas Co on TG 6931 on the Ansted Site. This was only a radio test but I was surprised. Unsure exactly what this TG is called and used for but I think it may be one of ours.

What time was this? I was off today and had my scanner on all morning(unless I was out of the room for a few minutes and missed it)
Edit: I did catch two new talkgroups to me that are in the database but weren't entered into my scanner,thanks to my wildcard for getting them!

New TG
It was about 11:45 this morning. I did actually check the time on this. May have to do some more research but that one may be our Statewide TG. Very well could've been the one in use the other night. I also caught what sounded to be Boone Co Sheriff on TG 4929 today off Pax.

heard the 4929 parts of the morning too,it was a very active morning(with the exception of missing the 6931,I'm kicking myself for that!)
I've been seeing these two TGs off and on for years but have never been able to ID them until today. Already submitted to the RRDB.

Got new Home Land Tower in my front yard (3/10 mile from door), haven't purchased digital scanner yet; not sure which is best for my monitoring. I understand there are more then 40 new freqs on this tower for WV statewide, EMS, Sheriff and so forth. All I know is that there is a lot of money sunk in this project. WSAZ TV news reported statewide digital trunking was down up to 5 hours for one simple wire connection....WOW. Noticed a lot of F&L commercial trucks, EMS com truck, and the State blue & white Communication trucks on site. I still monitor analog but realize it will die one day. FCC search didn't help me much but once I get a digital scanner it might.

I was off for a couple of days due to that severe lightning storm the night before last,it fried my ethernet port on my motherboard and ended up buying a ethernet card(my wireless router was fried,lucky I had a backup wired router and my son's 1000 watt power supply bit the dust)
Okay, everyone has a favorite scanner and I get that but which one will take decoder/descrambler. I'm hearing a lot about Pro series but interest is in portable style. I'm also hearing our Sheriff is wanting to scramble signal. It would be nice if scrambling is nothing more than frequency reverse.
If they move to the WVIRP and have encrypted TGs, you will not be able to hear them at all. There was a WV state document I found a few years ago for the planning of the WVIRP. It stated clearly, that there will never be any dispatch talk group encrypted. There are some "task force" and federal TGs that are along with a few other TGs for specific agencies (Ranson PD for some reason uses encryption but judging from how they used the radios before Jefferson Co. got their own tower and moved to the WVIRP, I can see why they wanted it. If I were them, I wouldn't want the public to know what I was saying either. Needless to say, I think their use is to cover their butts and not for security from criminals hearing them.)
I believe any of the newer digital scanners from GRE and Uniden will recode the WVIRP well. It will depend on what features you want.
Caught both Nicholas county talkgroups just a little while ago(6501 and 6651) for the first time,both was kinda brief

Hello, I am new to all this new age scanner stuff. Was wondering if someone can tell me how or point me to somewhere that can give me simple easy to understand directions of how to program this WVIRP into my BCD996T. As it is I just have the 6 freqs that the database shows for the closest repeater. I dont seem to miss anything. My problem is I'm hearing too much. Would like to lockout certain talk groups if that is possible.

First, pay for a premium subscription to radio reference. Then, download FreeScan. You will be able to download only the sites and systems you want to listen to. If there are things you don't want to hear, assign quick keys to all groups. You will then be able to turn them on and off as needed.

WVIRP now seems to handle everything for Hampshire County (FD and Sheriff) and also for WVSP Romney.
I have been hearing them from a mountain location near Wardensville for several months. Getting them off the Moorefield tower.
Hardy County, however, has not changed over and remains on its old VHF and UHF freqs.
