WV IO system - Portables that work to monitor?
I have two questions and an observation
Listening to the interoperable system from Mon county. Works well on my Pro-2096, however I cannot even imagine trying to program this from the keyboard.
Q1: I am looking to add a handheld scanner, does anyone know if the older p25 scanners (i.e. the BC-250 or BC-296) can follow the trunking system and decode the WV interoperable system?
Q2: Anyone in Harrison county able to comment on which are the data channels for the new site.
Observation: Watching agencies transfer to the system is interesting, and I suspect that as many new agencies go on this system which tracks where each of it's units is located, and then transmits there, that monitoring will get more interesting. As long as one unit is nearby, you hear both sides of the conversation.
Although it is surely a work in progress, one thing I would love to see posted somewhere is the planned talk group map for the entire system. I have heard the radio techs making some of this up on the fly, so this might only be a pipe dream, but I cannot believe that they haven't programmed the whole system into the radios before they are issued.
The one thing that seems to be missing in most counties is the working or operations (multi-agency) channels, as well s the "private" channels for each agencies. I cannot tell yet if these are set up and just not being used, or if they don't exist yet.
