Berkeley County TAC 1141

Hearing encrypted traffic on TG 1141 (listed as Berkeley County Sheriff's Dept TAC). a little bit ago I heard Charles Town deputy on TG 1529 say he had a lot of search warrants. the unit I heard is, I think, part of a task force in the area that works with Martinsburg and Berkeley County. maybe that's what's going on.

Site 011

Comm guys were talking about Site 012 today, which I inferred from context was McWhorter. Can anyone in that area confirm?

Still no peep from the sites at Bee Mountain or Boone County...

[I originally had Site 11, as the subject indicates, but that's wrong. They said Site 012, and I got on my mind, "Huh... then I wonder where Site 011 is?" and typoed this message.]

Morgantown (102) and Fairview (106) help!

Hey i've been reading so far and I haven't been able to trunk the Mon county towers (102 and 106). I cloned from my buddy's and can scan the Harrison county towers (101 and 105) pretty good. I don't know where he got his from, but from what I have been able to pick up from looking at the settings I can get to from the keypad (no cable or win96) is that the harrison county profile I have is set to Multi Table w/ base freq 460.0000 offset 380 and step 25.0.......if anyone knows what i'm doing wrong let me know please, or do i have to get the computer program?

thanks
Don

The single table 8192 offset 12.5 step was all that was needed a couple of years ago, but apparently 12288 with step 6.25 is needed also.

I ran through on I-64 last fall and think I used only the single table, but there still was very little traffic on Huntington and only one hit on Charleston on the return trip.

Going back through late next month and returning in June. My latest I-64 WV file has both tables entered in Extended Frequency dialog. BTW, the last 4 tables in extend frequencies may be left untouched (don't need to be zeroed out) as the scanner will ignore them anyway.

Edit: If you don't have Win96, you can set the first table using the Key6board and get a lot of the traffic.
PGM>TRUNK>FUNC + 2.
Key in 453.0250>ENTER
Key in 8192>ENTER
Use UP button to 12.5>ENTER
FUNC + 4
UP button to Table>ENTER>SCAN

Sweet, I got it to work finally........found out that I needed to start w/ a fresh INIT before loading in (i guess I changed something that made it not work). Either way I now have all the listed control channels for the state and all the listed talkgroups, but if anyone has a more recent list than the one on radio reference could they email it to me at dreilly1982 (at) gmail (dot) com? Thanks for all the help guys!

WV IO system - Portables that work to monitor?

I have two questions and an observation

Listening to the interoperable system from Mon county. Works well on my Pro-2096, however I cannot even imagine trying to program this from the keyboard.

Q1: I am looking to add a handheld scanner, does anyone know if the older p25 scanners (i.e. the BC-250 or BC-296) can follow the trunking system and decode the WV interoperable system?

Q2: Anyone in Harrison county able to comment on which are the data channels for the new site.

Observation: Watching agencies transfer to the system is interesting, and I suspect that as many new agencies go on this system which tracks where each of it's units is located, and then transmits there, that monitoring will get more interesting. As long as one unit is nearby, you hear both sides of the conversation.

Although it is surely a work in progress, one thing I would love to see posted somewhere is the planned talk group map for the entire system. I have heard the radio techs making some of this up on the fly, so this might only be a pipe dream, but I cannot believe that they haven't programmed the whole system into the radios before they are issued.

The one thing that seems to be missing in most counties is the working or operations (multi-agency) channels, as well s the "private" channels for each agencies. I cannot tell yet if these are set up and just not being used, or if they don't exist yet.

Charleston (site 0109) has been active with this TG today. Anyone know who it is?

The CRW site has been so dead lately, except for the normal tech talk and the occasional Med TG from up north (plus, I've been busy lately) I quit setting the radio for logging.

Guess I'd better get back on the stick, huh?!?!?! :)

Does anyone know if there are ANY tower sites or relay stations in MASON COUNTY, WV operational yet? I live just across the river in Ohio. I know that Mason County, EMS and Point Pleasant FD are all still operating on their regular UHF systems. Not heard any changes there yet!
Thanks, Steve/KB8FAR

if it's not in the RR database, probably not. I searched the FCC licenses and nothing with digital emission showed up. so my guess would be no.

Its coming Steve, be patient! :)

Been quite a while since I was here and checked this thread. I still don't see anything in the RR Database yet. No updates since March 29th for the WV trunked site....Anyone know if Mason County has been scheduled for any tower site construction yet? Thanks, Steve/Gallia County, Ohio. I'll keep listening...

I had the 396 at the office on today, logging Interop traffic only. (I know, it's about time I got back to it!).

Anyway, I was listening to the techs today (TG-1). They were working on the Kopperston/Bolt-Welch segements. Durning the conversation, one of them said, "Well, I think we may have come up with some frequencies for Welch, but I ain't for sure..."

I had to laugh! Boy, they've sure gone at this thing half cocked... Typical WV state project!!! ;-)
