while we're discussing the names and IDs of the towers, look back to page 12 of this thread and my first post on that page. I just checked again, the North Mountain tower is still displaying "Harrison County". again, this is with a search, not programmed in as that.

I guess we determined that the 996s won't display this information? I've never seen mine say anything that wasn't programmed in by me, except the SYSID, tower ID, and (now) WACN. If anyone else figured out how to get it, holler.

[I thought I heard them mention "Sayres" the other day as a tower site. I wasn't paying attention, and probably got it wrong. I've never heard of anything like that. Anyone else?]

...R

PS FWIW, I confirmed the Boone County site info from earlier (i.e., SYSID and WACN match IRP's, and tower = 0115). Time to update UASD...

I think you're right...the 396 or 996 will not show all the info like the GRE units do. what I posted above is the WACN.

Frank, I have the Jefferson freqs programmed in just to see when things go active there and have heard nothing, no CC or anything. What CC freq are you using for Jefferson's tower? I hear the Jefferson TGs on North Mt at times but it is not often, but the freqs in the database for Jeff are silent.

Thanks for the correction. Guess I should have ask the CC question instead.

uess I should have ask the CC question instead. Saw the two ID's listed thinking maybe the tower was working. I travel through now and then and worked with Bruce in the fall of 05 getting the Pro-96 to work with the system.

Na Mike, been a while. Think he may have sold the 96 and purchased a 396. He and moochie (may be misspelled) worked early on this site with FPO703 doing the admin work. You've been around for a while also.

I went through on I 64 in Sept and again in late Nov of 05, of course nothing with the system on the route. But I stayed in a motel in Huntington on the second trip and ran POro96Com on that tower and Charleston as well. I did hear two test by the techs as I pulled off the interstate but they were saying "see ya tomorrow". My return trips are usually in about 10 days. Just returned from on on June 1 and reported a hit on just north of the TP off the Charleston tower.

A couple of interesting items from Garfield...

On TG 6121 I heard the following test, "Metro 706 to metro, testing on LED East". To me, LED stands for "Law Enfocement Diapatch". So, guess they're going to break the county up into zones.

Also, been hearing Kanawha EMS (ALS) on TG 6150, not simulcast. (Medic 59, 319). Looks like its getting started here!!!

I think Metro calls the small municipal PD dispatch channels (Belle, Chesapeake, etc. in the east, WVSU campus security in the west -- currently on 156.195) "LEB." I'd be surprised if they split SLED (what Metro calls the sheriff's LE dispatch channel) up geographically. Perhaps this will be "LEB East"?

I only listened for a minute, but 6150 sounds like the METRO <> Kanawha intercom. They've been using it request transfers of ALS medics to BLS assignments.

That would make sense... Keep the current "Metro Police" users (which are mostly in the east) on one channel, and the West... Well, there's WVSU. the park police, and, who knows, maybe Jefferson will incorporate again! (Lord knows they needed their own channel!!!) :)

Yeah, 6150 has been hopping all day today, but not really sure what they're doing. Also, heard voice testing just a minute ago on 6130, but no user info.

And another... Just heard on TG 9301, DOT-1 calling Charleston control. I've heard this one before, so more'n likely, 9301 is going to be WVDOT.

Yeh.. I got busy and forgot to post that last month. 9301 seems to be DOT F1. I've heard "DOT 1", "DOT 2", and "A9" (anyone know who that is?) calling Charleston Control on it before. DOT 2 also popped up on DHSEM F1 once.

I've heard at least mic keys on 6110, 6120, 6121, 6123, 6130, 6140, 6141, 6150, 6151, 6152, 6153, 6171, 6173, 6180, 6210, 6215, and 6220 (not all recently). I missed most of it, but one day when I was at work, I looked down and somebody appeared to be keying their mic and rotating through every Kanawha Co. talkgroup. They weren't saying anything, so I didn't realize it was going on at work until halfway through; and my scanner was setup to have 2-sec delays anyway, so it wasn't releasing quick enough. At the time, I was under the impression that they were still mapping out T/Gs, but apparently at least one radio had a buncha stuff set up.

[Edit] ...and 6133, 6170, and 6927 (huh?) this morning. While I was at lunch, I logged (no audio) 9835 (which I have as Charleston MedBase) and also 9831, which I didn't have before.

As promised here are the talk groups for the Kanawha County EMS on the state TRS.

KCA Disp
KCA ALS
KCA BLS
KCA TAC 1
KCA TAC2
KCA TAC3
KCA TAC4
KCA TK 1
KCA TK 2

Any idea what TK stands for, BTW? Talk-around? Any thoughts on the difference between the TAC and TK channels?

I wondered about that too... Maybe one of them is the mysterious TG 6150 (Which sounds more like they need a good set of FRS radios instead of interop... Surely they did this stuff over the phone before yesterday?!?) :)

ALSO... A little bit ago, on TG 9835 I heard "Charleston Med Base on Med C to Kanawha, testing...". I noticed that in the Berkeley County TGs, Med C is 9825 (The others are 9821, 9823, etc.). I'd guess that the Charleston Med channels may follow the same pattern? (ie, Med A 9831, Med B 9833, Med C 9835...)

Ideas??

6150 must be the BLS/Transport channel; I've gone ahead and labeled it as such in my radio. I've heard radio maintenance testing the transport trucks calling Kanawha all day.

Good snag on Charleston MED C. [The MED C channels seem to be the calling channels (like UHF MED-9 and MED-10), and then MedBase directs the medic to MED A,B,D, or E (Like MED-01 through MED-08).] Your logic is also consistent with crwbigbrother's observation that each of the MedBases will have its own five channels. I heard Huntington MedComm once on 9845, and I also heard 9805 and 9865 once, but didn't write anything down for an assignment.

So I bet it's:

9801,3,5,7,9 = ? somebody's MED A,B,C,D,E ?
9811,3,5,7,9 = ? somebody's MED A-E ?
9821,3,5,7,9 = Berkeley MedComm MED A-E
9831,3,5,7,9 = Charleston MedComm MED A-E
9841,3,5,7,9 = Huntington MedComm MED A-E
9851,3,5,7,9 = ? somebody's MED A-E ?
9861,3,5,7,9 = ? somebody's MED A-E ?

[Interestingly, this does not follow DHHR's current MedComm assignment codes (Code 01 = Beckley; 02 = Huntington; 03 = Charleston; 04 = WESTCOM; 05, 06 & 07 = WVU MedComm).]

Berkeley Co.

just heard TG 9005 used to run a license check. the first person talking called Romney then corrected himself and said Charles Town. Both are Troop 2 WVSP.

so, I guess WVSP is on the new system now on North Mountain.

not sure it this is due to the President's visit to Martinsburg Airport or not.

Yup, it looks like the 9000 TGs are all going to be WV State agencies, and it would make sense that the first TG's in the series are DPS. Good work!

Hello all

The KCA Disp channel is being used by the KCEMS EMS comcenter to talk direct to the Metro EMS dispatcher to share ambulance resources. Also, we are waiting to receive inservices on the P25 system and what the different channels will be used for. I am going to attempt to find out if the supervisors/administration have private admin talk-groups that the field personnel are not allowed to access. Will keep everyone posted. By the way, I no for certain that Med C will be the Medical Command call channel. Also, if anyone is interested, the HealthNet 4 helo in Portsmouth, OH can be heard on the Ohio MARCS system on Medflight Tac3.

Take care everyone.
