im still not sure how to match up the talkgroups with freq.

Thx
Dan

you don't...

any TG can use any freq. usually the TGs will use the freqs assigned to that site. the control channel tells the radios what to do. when a unit/dispatcher/whatever keys the mic, the system knows what TG they are on (like a channel), then the system assigns a freq. it doesn't matter what freq it is as long as it is for that site and is free.

imagine a busy office building with multiple companies. the building would be the site, the companies would be the agencies (PD, Animal Control, Fire, EMS), the people would be the TGs. they all report to the same building and use the same main doors to enter. there are say, 8 main doors. the people enter through these doors and report to the correct offices. when they come back from lunch or return the next day, they could use the same door but they could also use the other 7. it doesn't matter how they enter the building as long as they get to their offices on time.

if I'm off or wrong with my example, then please feel free to correct me. I hope this helps though.

"danstrainz", where are you and what scanner are you trying to use?

Im in keyser WV and i have BC898T and a BC350C. those are the ones i mainly use

if you are trying to use those on the WV P25 system, they are not going to work. you need a APCO25 (digital) scanner. the ones being sold now that will work are Uniden models 996T and their 396T and Radio Shack models PRO-96 and PRO-2096. GRE is to release a few new scanners that look like they will work.

Yup, it looks like the 9000 TGs are all going to be WV State agencies, and it would make sense that the first TG's in the series are DPS. Good work!

Yes, I would say you are correct me714. I heard Shinnston WVSP on TG9001 last week.

Been picking up encrypted traffic on TG 1145 (Berkeley County TAC 7) for the last several hours. Don't believe I've heard ENC on it before.

I've been hearing this TG encrypted ever since the system went into use. I'm pretty sure it is used for detectives. I think the TAC channels are maybe common to all EMS and Law Enforcement radios. see this: http://www.radioreference.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70226

is your scanner is scan or search mode for the system?

Seems like about all of the state agencies are getting 5 channels. I heard radio service testing Capitol PD on F4 the other day, which was new for me (somebody else musta heard 'em on F5, too; I see both have been added to the dB). I'll betcha DOT has an F2 through F5, too = 9303, 05, 07, and 09. And Fire Marshal 4 & 5 on 9187 and 9189?

Yeah, that was me... Evidently, they had a programming problem with a couple of radios, so they were going thru all five channels and verifying that they were right. Interestingly, they called them CAP 1, CAP 2, etc. Also, they have 9771 in their radios too, but they were calling it DPS Dispatch, which didn't make a whole lot of sense, as that is DHS 1. (Maybe the "H" and "P" look similar on their radios???)

I agree about the five channel setups. It looks like that is wat they're doing.

Anyone else think the x927 TGs are related to regional 911, inter-PSAP, mutual aid, etc.? The only one in the DB is 1927, which is listed as such.

0927: In my notes, I have traffic on 0927 as "County Commission to Headquarters" and "Harrison County calling Monongalia County."

1927: In dB as "PSAP-to-PSAP (Intercounty)".

4927: I've heard misc. units here, and today I heard "Huntington 911, this is Cabell DOH-2"

6927: This talkgroup is in Metro/Kanawha County's new radios, but I haven't heard any voice traffic on it yet.

Anyone else hear anything on an x927 TG? Perhaps the entire x9xx TG series are reserved for similar application? I don't see anything else, and the only thing in my notes was a mic key on 2/15/2007 on site 0109 on TG #5901.

We're still waiting on the new toys to arrive in the Mason County (Point Pleasant, WV) area. We're in Ohio, just across the river from Mason County....

Anyone aware of the install/build schedule for western W.Va?

Steve/Gallia 911 :p

Interesting idea... I checked my references, and I pretty much have what you have. On a different note - I also heard the 4927 transmission today, and was going to throw it out into the forum too. That was a strange call... I re-listened to it several times, but it really didn't make a whole lot of sense.

Hmmm

Heard encrypted traffic a little while ago on TG 1141, TAC5. I don't think I've ever heard traffic on this TG before. All of the encryption is usually on TG 1145, TAC7.

Berkeley Co. - 9005

few thoughts...

heard what sounded like a deputy on this TG running a tag. I think he had his radio set to the wrong channel. I've also been hearing more state troopers on the BCSO TG. maybe they are getting more radios and the Sheriff's Office has the WVSP TG programmed in now.

for snjct2000: Not unless you've got one heck if an antenna! :)

Seriously, from what I understand, not much is happening in that area right now. Your closest site is probably going to be the Salem tower in Harrison County, which is quite a stretch for UHF! The only other site more or less in that neck of the woods (correct me if I'm wrong. guys) would be Wheeling, which is pretty much a forlorn Interop site right now...

As for the Mercer site: From what I've overheard on TG 1 recently, they've been sitting on pins and needles waiting on that one. I'd say you'll hear a control channel soon!!!

I have the WVSP Mobile freq of 460.25 (the listed freq for Berkley/Jefferson County mobiles) in the Pro-97 &96. Lately have been getting digital type noise on both receivers when the freq is in use. Could this be because this is tied into the North Mtn. Site with the WV Interop System? Is anyone else getting this, and if so, any exlplaination as to it's behavior? By the way, their TG on the Berkley County System is outstanding.

I wouldn't be surprised to see freqs in that range get moved/used by the trunk system if the agency using them moves to the digital system. have you tried that freq as conventional digital? I went though some logs and don't see that freq being used. it is listed in the RR DB for sites 105 and 1012. LONG shot, but maybe you're hearing one of those. it's also licensed to the correctional facility in Martinsburg.

are you maybe thinking of 460.0250MHz?

I remember when Berkeley County switched to the new system; one day everything was on their UHF freq and the next it was all digital noise.
