On another note... I think State Police Troop-0 Executive Protection is using:

09209 = F-1
09211 = F-2 [full-time encryption]
09213 = F-3
09215 = F-4

They are -- of course -- spending 100% of their time on F-2, so sounds like no more listening to them...

...R
I had rec. 09211 today but I never got to see what the scanner was showing. However the audio played back sounds enc. to me as well. Each hit today was from Ghent tower.

here's what I have off of North Mountain Site:

1027
8003
917
1921
9839
9989
1159
1179
1997 - I know it's wrong, but I have it as Berkeley Co. Sheriff's Dept Private
1199
1915
8023 - encrypted
1191
1113 - I have it as FD or EMS (not sure what Co.)
903
997
1903
1907

also, has anyone really heard anything on TG 8021 - Detectives (Berkeley Co). AND, in the database, TG 903 is listed as Radio Techs and Regional Med Com.

Just checking the recordings from today...had a mic keyed on TG1907 and some testing on TGs 9133 and 9135. go to link to hear the audio:
http://7.download-2.files-upload.com/50/2007/12/12/23-40/0/TG9133 and TG9135.zip

As I had my 996T is pieces (tapping discriminator), I heard some traffic on my 396T that was "new". I put down the soldering iron and looked..."ID:9136". It was 2 DNR officers talking about poachers near Martinsburg. I would suspect the traffic I heard earlier in the week on TGs 9133 and 9135 are also District 2 DNR. I'm going to submit 9136 to the database.

Tg 1191

going though some recording from 12/14/07, I saw 1191 being used. it's a "private" TG for a fire/ems company but I'm not sure who.

also, had a few mic keys on TG917

A couple of days ago, I logged someone on one of the CRW sites calling "Region Six" on 5901. This may add credence to the thought that the x9xx TG's are regional....

That supports my theory, posted earlier. If I'm right, all of the 0rcxx talkgroups are assigned to counties in region (r+1) generally, and the 0r9xx talkgroups are all assigned regionwide to region (r+1) specifically. So that would be right, 05901 (r=5) would be a regionwide t/g for Region 6, which includes McDowell County (r=5, c=4). I've tried to make a map from what we know:

Region 1 = Harrison, Marion, Monongalia
Region 2 = Berkeley, Jefferson
Region 3 = ?
Region 4 = ?
Region 5 = Cabell, Lincoln
Region 6 = McDowell
Region 7 = Kanawha
but there are too many gaps to even guess at the missing ones.

I heard some traffic on Kopperston tower today with the ID:65001, listen to them they were having some problems in setting up a radio and was wondering how long it should take to program it. When the guy responded that he should just copy the old file over and only take about 2 min. to complete. He asked about it that file the old file would have that new feature in it. The other guy responded that they were going to install this new feature in all of them. I was in an area that I could not keep with the tower to hear the rest.

Anyone else heard anything more on 65001? I saw RID 550901 (MCDO or MERC, prob.) affiliate with that T/G here in Chucktown today, but no voice traffic yet.

Ok.. yes... I'm having too much fun with Unitrunker...

Anyone ever see at TG 36661? I see it from time to time and when I do I usually see it flash up on the other tower I can get, never hear traffic but most times I will her the TEC start talking shortly after like if it was a page. They are nother TG in that area I see do that as well and they all go to a freq. in the 770 Mhz band when they take place.

Jeffery Smith

Going back thru to catch up on some posts...

Yes, I see this one, too, but never catch any audio either. I'm running Unitrunker now; maybe seeing what RIDs are affailiating with it will tell us something.

Just saw something that might clarify an earlier post...

I heard RID=091501 on "WV Fire Marshal F-1" (TG=09181) identify as "1626" (a Fire Marshal unit #, I think) calling "1770" (a Fire Marshal unit #). Perhaps yesterday's call to McDowell EMA on TG=05551 was someone borrowing someone else's radio...

BTW, I think I'm gonna start moving my traffic like this over the to IRP thread where it belongs.

I talk to several Fire Marshals about a month or maybe 2 months ago about the system. The guy’s I talk to did not have them yet but they said they were only getting the handhelds to keep with them and that way if they needed to they could use their trucks radio to talk back to the county they worked in. They did not seem to happy have to have a place for a portable in the truck.

I heard TG 9181 talking about they are going to setup Gauley Mtn this year and he thought that were going to put another one on tunnel hill in the area that cell phones don’t work. They did not use any ID other then are you on here.

Does anyone know which of the Medbases goes by "WESCOM"? I see an entry in the database for Roane County for Wescom on 155.400, so it must be which one serves that area (although I'd have guessed Charleston Medbase did).

Relatedly... anyone care to guess which agency goes by "PSN"? It's probably affiliated with WV DHHR somehow. My quick search on the web drew a blank.

Thanks. My typo explains why I couldn't find it. Coupla new T/Gs, then...

09801 = WestCom MED-A
09803 = WestCom MED-B
09805 = WestCom MED-C
09807 = WestCom MED-D
09809 = WestCom MED-E

I'd almost be willing to bet that Beckley would be 0981x, and that would put them all in alphabetical order so far, except WestCom. Does WestCom have another name that is before "Beckley" alphabetically?

Pendleton Falls Overlook

While we were out for Christmas and doing some picture taking, we stopped at Pendleton Falls Overlook which is in Blackwater Falls State park in Tucker Co.

http://www.wvbike.org/blackwater_circle/virtual_tour2.html

I took a sec to see what all I could find on the scanner. I was able to get a CC of 453.2875 (which shows as a secondary CC for the Marion County Site) and heard Marion Co. Sheriff and their "Multi-Tac" TG of 205. I also saw for a sec "Bridgeport PD" which is on the Harrison Co. site. I didn't get a CC for that one though.

Looking at the attached map...both are a haul. I was about where the + is and at a very high elevation.

has anyone ever heard anything off the Elkins/Randolph site? I had the primary and secondary CCs programmed into my 396T while going through Randolph Co. but never had it lock onto either.

SITE3.jpg

Ok, with a little time that is what I found. I have downloaded UniTrunker 1.0.39 and saved a copy uniform.exe file and renamed it and placed to another place on my computer. Then uninstalled that version and went back to a newer version. Placed the old version with the new name in the same directory with the newer UT program. Since it had 2 different names they will actually run at the same time. It seems that if your signal is weak ~ 10% or lower the old version will stay locked in much better. Also while editing the file manually for name, for some reason UT will not do this when I insert them. I also found this.

Site
263, Martinsburg (Berkeley)
271, Boone County
272, Malden (Kanawha)
273, Beckley (Mercer)
274, Welch (McDowell
275, Bluefield (Mercer
276, McComas (Mercer
277, Kopperston (Wyoming)

I also caught 65536 talking while I was messing around I think with Kopperston Site. I did notice it said G for a group but I never got the RID. I did not have my 396 running at the time.

I had to go to deepest Boone County today to visit a couple of mines - I was literally in the Twilight Zone (well, it was Twilight, anyway, right there next to Bandytown)...

Anyway, I finished my meetings early, so I maundered on up WVSR 85 to the top of Kopperston (or Bolt, if you prefer), and spent a good deal of time seeing what I could come up with. Man, that's a hot place - for a while, I had ten Interop CCs!!! (Granted, some were pretty weak). On conventional, I was picking as far as Mason county to Greenbrier, Braxton to Mercer, so I was tuned in, ready to do battle with the southern half of the interop system....

Problem was, nothing was happening! I got a few affiliations, things I already knew from the CRW sites, but nothing major, with one exception - I heard a Law Enforecement call on 5933, but it was to a Mercer County location - so, I think that the gun may have been jumped just a little by placing 5933 as MACdowell (I love the way they say that) Sheriff. I tend to agree that the x9xx's are regional, and for whatever reason, someone is just testing on the regional TGs.

What bolsters this is the fact that I was hearing all of MACdowell's PS vhf PS channels going strong, as well as Wyoming, Raleigh, Mingo, Monroe... The only dead spot was Mercer. I was picking up Bluefield and Princeton PS fine, but not once did I hear a county wide transmission on their vhf-uhf channels. Perhaps THEY are the ones that are doing the testing in that area. After all, there have been rumblings for a while now about them switching over to Interop.

Just two cents worth from me and my (very) filthy coal mud caked vehicle.... (I hope it rains tomorrow so I won't have to wash it...) :)
