I've seen several 55nnnn RIDs affiliate with T/G 00001, and I know that a few of the Mercer OES guys are active on that talkgroup. I've yet to hear a mic key, so no confirmation. But as soon as I hear 550nnn say "STECS 1 this is MERCER 4", we can confirm that 054 is MCDO and 055 is MERC.

Combining what few we know with a map and our thought that within a region, they're alphabetical, here are my guesses so far for the regions that I can take a guess on; I wouldn't bet the farm on them, though:

Reg 2:
011 BERK
012 GRAN
013 HAMP
014 HARD
015 JEFF
016 MINE
017 MORG
018 PEND

Reg 5:
041 CABE
042 JACK
043 LINC
044 MASO
045 PUTN
046 ROAN
047 WAYN
048 WIRT

Reg 6:
051 BOON
052 FAYE
053 LOGA
054 MCDO
055 MERC
056 MING
057 RALE
058 WYOM

If any of you see affiliations from RIDs that aren't in one of the couple we are pretty sure of (HARR, MARI, MONO, BERK, JEFF, CABE, LINC, MCDO, MERC, or KANA), let me know what tower and T/G, and I'll reformulate my map.

I can confirm that the MedComm / MedBase T/G groups are allocated at least through 0986x5, as I've seen hits on them. Although I don't log audio, so no idea what 0981x5, 0985x5, or 0986x5 are, yet.

Finally, Charleston is heating up. Metro is patching Charleston FD Dispatch VHF (154.385) to Charleston FD Dispatch IRP (06210) and Kanawha FD Dispatch VHF (155.145) to Kanawha FD Dispatch IRP (06140).

With only three voice channels available on 0109, that site is going to get bunched up very quickly...

TG 8003 - North Mtn.

I'm getting a lot of encrypted traffic on TG 8003. Looking at UniTrunker, the only radio IDs using that TG are 80132 and 80133. Anyone anywhere else seeing traffic on this TG? If so, what radio IDs?

Anyone seeing 8021 also?

I've seen 080151 on 8007 and also 9011 (both encrypted). Obviously law enforcement, although unknown who.

Update on Metro: Also now simulcasting Charleston EMS Dispatch VHF (154.040) on Charleston EMS Dispatch IRP (06214). I expect the remaining primary services (County PD and the many municipal public safety agencies) to cut over in due course.

Today I heard a DNR office on TG1927 talking to Berkeley County Dispatch (Central) about someone burning tires (among other things). I then heard him talking directly with them on the Sheriff's Office TG. So, they must have gotten their new digital radios.

Yes, he said Berkeley had the portables. They said another county or 2, but I can not recall who. From there he was saying that each of the units worked several county's in their area and was ref. the several radio's that they had in their units. This was a few months back. I never took pic's of the inside of any of the units. I might the next time they have to come back. I think that is in the spring.

I saw RID 6157600 pop up the other day. At first, I attributed it to a bit slip glitch in my receiver. But I saw it again just now, affiliating with the same talkgroup (county fire). I wonder if someone doesn't have a radio mis-programmed... 615760 would make far more sense.

A tractor trailer jumped the median and dumped its cargo, shutting down the entire interstate system in Charleston for 6 hours. Nice mess... I wasn't sitting at the radio during it to match up RIDs to radios, but I did log some new stuff.

I heard Charleston Medbase testing its radio today; perhaps we'll here the Charleston MED-* channels warming up...

Finally... if anyone wants to email me their BEE00170.* Unitrunker files (especially if you've put names to the RIDs), I'd like to see what radios are affiliating with what talkgroups outside of Charleston. Email is my username here (wm8s) at pobox dot com.

Michael said the two vendors that submitted bids for the project are Motorola Inc. of Columbia, Md., and Custom Computers & Communications in Augusta, W.Va. The OES director said the two vendors are offering different brands of equipment, but did not elaborate.

Anyone know what brand CC&C sells? I'd be surprised if the county gives the non-Motorola vendor much consideration. It's hard to understand why /\/\ hasn't been able to capitalize on selling overpriced land mobile gear. 18 months before 9/11, Moto stock was trading at a high of $60. 18 months after 9/11, it was trading around $8. It's still just sitting at $15 or so now. Maybe weak cell phone performance is dragging them down, but it seems to me that soldering together $200 worth of Asian components and selling it as a $5,000 XTLsomething oughta be more profitable.

Still trying to reverse engineer the "silent" counties...

I've seen radio IDs from the following series that don't fit into counties that we already know:

37nnnn
41nnnn (CABE?)
45nnnn (PUTN?)
68nnnn (saw two RIDs today on tower 0109)
73nnnn (saw one RID today on tower 0109; first thing I've seen from what I think is Reg 8)

I've also seen (or seen reported) a couple talkgroups from unknown county series. Anyone else seeing unknown counties?

Also saw 04nnnn this week. Anyone heard anything about a county in the Harrison / Marion / Monongalia area coming on line anytime soon?

Heard traffic on TG1 on the Berkeley Co. site. One tech was telling the other that he needed to talk to him about SiteR. If they are talking about "SiteR" in PA, it's a mountain that's not too far away and is a DoD installation. They then went on to talk about putting new sites up. I'm pretty sure they have some equipment at Mt. Weather. I've heard testing where they talk to someone at Mt. Weather.

I heard 4931 I think today on his trip to Pipestem was wondering how far his radio would go. Mostly bs about some fight he had and the judges. Anyway I also heard TG1 talking about SiteR and he was going to stop by and see how well things were going there, as well they talk about what way to take to go north from Hinton. After that I was not looking but logged 3939 and then 9771 was checking to see if anyone was monitoring their radio's.

Oh, yeah TG1 someone asked if the other guy knew that Kanawha Co. had bought a bunch of Kenwood radio's.

If they've put a tower at Raven Rock, I sure hope my federal, and not state, tax dollars paid for it.

Do you mean unit 4931 or talkgroup 4931?

Mike,
I can of thought that when you 1st posted that. They were on Ghent tower on my end.

wm8s,
Sorry all numbers are talkgroup. I wish I had time to stand by the scanner hear all the traffic but with so much running today I wasn't able to hear everthing. I did also have some other TG's to come up where
901
1901
7901
9701
9717

I'm thinking you was wanted any RID that anyone got so, I had a 2nd scanner running on UT for what little I can decode from home I logged
RID - TG
30034 - 351
680105 - 9771

I have a few more RID's but no TG to go with with it. I'm trying to get some RID for TG 9069 and 9211 since it is enc. I was trying to get any info. that I could get.

For Jan. TG hits I got
3919
3939
5499
6919
6997
9853
9857
9865

Jeff
