Anyone notice today that Jefferson County's control channel has been offline since at least 11am? Anyone know what's going on? I don't hear any failsoft tones either. Sounds like the site is completely offline.

Well... so much for the alphabetical-within-region theory... Unless McD comes after Merc. I previously reported that I heard a user calling T/G 05551 "McDowell EMA", but based on my belief that 54 was McDowell County, I chalked it up to his mistake. Looks like it was my mistake. McDowell Control's RID is 0055xxxx (just heard Jimmy Joe calling them on 05933).
So 05551 is "McDowell EMA", and all of those 054xx talkgroups that we heard earlier must be Mercer County's. FYI, I've logged only one 0054xxxx RID on tower 0109, but 9 from 0055xxxx. Off to correct the (many) programs' databases...

Well... that's my theory, and I'm stickin' to it.
Today, I copied RID 00000001 affiliate with talkgroup 09771 on tower 0109. Must be the Bossman.

heard traffic on the North Mountain site on TG 1907. don't remember who was call, but he referred to the TG as "Region 2 OEM"

That is consistent with what I've heard, too (i.e., the 0r907 talkgroups referred to as "Region {r+1} EMA"). Sounds like we can confirm that 00907 is "Region 1 {substitute acronym for whatever emer mgt agencies are called in your area}", etc.

Unidentified Talk Groups
I have only had a few opportunities to scan the IRP system, but I have encountered several unidentified talk groups which are not in the database. I was curious if anyone else had picked the tg's up and from where.

The only 2 I have were the enc 8005 on Kopper and Ghent and 9069 Kopper. McComma, and Ghent. I get 9069 hits alot on Kopper. I have also got a hit in 3939 but I dont even have a clue what they might be.dintimid8or said:

- 09069 is SP; it pops up frequently on site 0109 (Charleston), but it might be the SP radio guys programming radios down here
- 05901 would be a some kind of Reg. 6 (Mercer, McDowell, etc., counties) interoperability
- 00553, 00555, and 00563 belong to a county we haven't identified yet, but in Reg. 1 (Harr, Mari, Mono). Try to ID some audio to see who it might be, and we'll have another county ID'ed.
- 03937 is a Reg. 4 interop channel. [That doesn't mean any counties in that region are necessarily active yet, though; I see lots of people keying their mic on every one of the regional talkgroups fairly frequently.]
- 08005 is in the series we think are all encrypted.
Speaking of encrypted, so far all state police traffic in Charleston has been encrypted. I'm unsurprised, but my opinion is that this disserves overall public safety.

The state police traffic I heard Friday was not encrypted (DPS Shinnston), just the casual 10-8 10-41 from one of the troopers.

I'm picking up a control channel on 460.2125 with sysid of 0170h-0107 (Berkeley County/ Martinsburg North Mountain site) wacn BEE00. Copied tg 1109 (Martinsburg PD) at the time.

Berkeley Co - TAC5 TG 1141
starting around 5:30PM I've been hearing a LOT of encrypted traffic on TG 1141, which is listed as TAC5. the only 2 RIDs are 111021 and 111022 which are right about in the middle of the Sheriff's Office RIDs (mixed in with Judicial Center). I would like to guess that this is a TG for maybe the detectives for the Sheriff's Office or something that they don't obvious want you to monitor.
EDIT: looked again and RID 110838 is also showing up using that TG, which is still within the BCSO set.
