Right, I agree. Look at Jefferson County. Our WVIRP xmitter is up on Blue Ridge Mtn just feet from the Loudoun Co, VA line.

Looked at them and I don't see anything wrong with it. Jefferson County tower are located in Jefferson County. Unlike the one that was change to a neighbor county.

That might be the case on testing and Hampshire is not online yet. Even down here Beckley State Police use's that tower from Ghent listed as Beckley (Mercer), should this change to Ghent (Raleigh) since they are using it or as is since Bluefield units are using it, leave it as Mercer. By the way Beckley is about 15 miles in the county. Ghent in Raleigh and borders to Mercer County,

I'll correct them up on the DB. Any idea what 1907 and 1915 are then?

According to my notes (which are partly guesses)... The IRP regional interop channels (channels in the 0r9xx pattern, where (r+1) is the IRP region) that I've heard of go like this:

01 = Fire
03 = EMS
05 = Law
07 = EMA/OES
09 = ?
11 = 911/Dispatch
13 = Hospital?
15 = Tac-1
17 = Tac-2
19 = Tac-3
21 = Tac-4
23 = Tac-5?
25 = ?
27 = 911 channel for county 1 in this region
29 = 911 channel for county 2 in this region
31 = 911 channel for county 3 in this region
33 = 911 channel for county 4 in this region
35 = 911 channel for county 5 in this region
37 = 911 channel for county 6 in this region
39 = 911 channel for county 7 in this region
41 = 911 channel for county 8 in this region
51 = ?
81 = ?
83 = ?
85 = ?
87 = ?
89 = ?
91 = ?
93 = ?
95 = ?
97 = ?
99 = ?

I included the "?" ones to mark ones that I've heard, as opposed to, say, 63, which I've never heard.

So, for example, 01901 = Region 2 Fire. 06927 = Kanawha County 911 (county #1 in Region 7). 00907 = Region 1 EMA. Etc.

I'd appreciate additions, corrections, etc. (e.g., if someone could get ahold of a radio ;^).

...R

Sounds like they will be using the IRP system for the inauguration. If you're in the area, keep an ear open.

I've noticed in Berkeley Co. that since Jan. 1st, units that would normally call "Central" (central 911 dispatch for EMS and BCSO which covers Martinsburg FD/EMS and some WVSP calls) have been using "Berkeley" and "Central" has been identifying themselves as "Berkeley". A little odd to get used to, but I guess its more professional.

I bet they'll pry the "Metro" moniker out of somebody's cold, dead hands... It's been so long that I can't remember what they used before that. I think "Headquarters".

Wow... can you smell the money? Looks like the State Police turned on 65 or so new hand units today in Charleston.

I caught more radio tech traffic off of site 27. According to the conversations, there is a Cacapon site (Site 27, presumably for Morgan Co.) and the Romney Site (site 26 for Hampshire County). It sounds as if they're going to run these 2 sites in tandem to service both Hampshire, Morgan and perhaps another county. Each one complements the other covering dead spots and other trouble areas. It's odd that over the past several weeks with the traffic and testing they've never mentioned the Ridge site.

I heard them them yesterday testing on I81 about the 23MM and the HT was associated with the Blue Ridge site. maybe they are going to have them all cover each other. would make sense for DOH, WVSP and EMS/FD.

At times, I hear some of Berkeley County's transmissions on the Morgan site (27). It's not every transmission thought, so perhaps it's whichever tower gets pinged on a mobile transmission.

Steve

just from the little I heard tonight when I got home about 5PM, sounded like radio techs on TG 1915 talking about portables not locking on a specific tower. I'll go back and listen to the recording later tonight.

One of them signed off at the old home place on MD 68 west of Williamsport.

TG 1915 Berkeley County site

0835 local - ongoing -- Berkeley OEM 1 working Morgan OEM 1 with testing (same two as yesterday afternoon) on TG 1915. Believe both are mobile. One of them was at the 78.5 mile marker on I68, said had just switched to the Blue Ridge site. Also talking about Cacapon site having only 3 frequencies.

edit to add - 0852 now talking about the audio on the Hampshire site being twice as loud as on the Berkeley site, one said that because Hampshire has a 500 watt mouth.

0859 - One of them is now on Polish Mountain on I68, loud & clear

0904 - by exit 55 (Flintstone) on I68 on site 27 Cacapon

0905 - now at the MD 144 crossover on I68, now going digital

0908 - bottom of Martins Mt at Rocky Gap State Park, reports a dead zone there

0915 - said at the overpass in downtown Cumberland he's on site 27 Cacapon

0912 - reports current temp of 4 degrees (I have 7 degress in Martinsburg)
0910 - one just passed the 220 exit at Cumberland

0910 - asking if there is a tower for Mineral County, said building on Pinnacle

I found a record for Cacapon that runs in the interop range. Can anyone see if they are getting anything on them.

453.6875
460.0626
453.1125

Maybe this is where everone up there is getting it confused with another site number.
