Guys and gals...

Recently I have been receiving quite a few (no one in paticular) submissions that are questionable, missing key information, or are outright wacky.

To help us build a more complete Wyoming database, I ask (as well as the site guidelines) to submit the following:

Repeater output (if applicable)
Repeater input (if know for VHF submissions)
PL/DPL/NAC (if your scanner does not support PL/DPL/NAC decoding, please state so)
FCC license* (if known)
Source of your information (personal monitoring, FCC database*, offical agency information)

In addition, if your submitting new trunked radio sites, its is very important that the State/County/Town/landmark infomation is submitted along with known control channel information. Lat/long is preferred but not required. Site ID/Zone as required is also great. Otherwise, DB aware scanners and record keeping becomes a nightmare. Please do not submit FCC data alone as this will not give us the extra data that is required for the database. Only internal information or a scanner/software of properly decoding the site will.

*Although the FCC database is a good source of information, it is also filled with many unused or out of date information. Persons in the past (and they still do) troll the FCC database finding licenses that are not in the RRDB database then submit them as valid freqencies. Many times - those licenses have since been abandonded or reused to a different licensee and now we have pile of junk in the database.

I do encouge those who submit to crossreference what they have found to the the FCC database for the license info and to see what else might be active, but do not simply use the FCC info without first verifying the information before submitting.

As the need arises (have a few Wyolink sites that may need monitoring) I'll be posting questions for the masses to verify if I receive a submission that needs more information so that we can properly process the submission(s).

In the end, it only helps us all out.

Over the next week I'll be re-revamping the railroad database to make it a little easier to read. I'll try an attempt at also adding to the wiki (remember we have one of those too that I never look at) for the extra information one might be curious to look at.

**Anyone with information they don't want the source to be made public, feel free to PM me with a submission directly so the other admin cannot see it. After I process the submission I delete the PM's. I keep everything confidence. By sources, I mean an employee, offical information, what-have-you, or something you just don't want public. This does NOT mean my buddy Joe, saw it one a friends scanner, etc.
