Hi all. I'm trying to programme the two LHR tower frequencies into the above, but when I enter, for example, 118.505 as the frequency, I get a message saying it already exists as 118.5083. It doesn't!!! Has anyone else encountered this, or does anyone have an idea what it is that's going wrong? Thanks in advance.

118.505 isn't a valid frequency. It's either 118.500 or 118.5083.

Interesting! The frequencies used to be 118.5 and 118.7, both of which I could receive, but in 2018 they were changed to 118.505 and 118.705, as shown on pretty much every aviation website, and aircraft handed off to the tower from the Director are told to select whichever of those exact freqencies is relevant. So the frequencies are valid, and I cannot receive the tower on 118.5083, nor for that matter on 118.5 or .7 Is this a limitation with the scanner then?

118.505 would be 118.5083, they chose to keep the the last digit either a 0 or a 5 apparently.

I just googled LHR frequencies and all of the links show 118.500 and 118.700.

They changed on 13 September 2018 when a new radio system was installed and they moved to 8.33 channels. Some websites still show the old frequencies. It looks like KevinC has given me the answer, in that its a descriptive thing. Thanks anyway

Ah, so they're just trying to confuse me then. And it worked! After a bit more digging around they changed to these frequencies on 18 Sep 2018 and mentioned the 8.33 spacing you referenced in your response. Its all academic at present of course, but at least I now know its not an issue with the scanner. Thanks very much.
