• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all. FIrst off let me say that I am so thankful for all the help I've received in the past and now I'm back with more questions.

I've checked for exisiting threads on this topic but if they are there, I didn't find them.

I have a XPR7550 with Firmware Ver. R02.06.05.0002 and CP Version 10.05.06 and a XPR3500e with Firmware Ver. R02.07.01.0000 and CP Version 11.00.17.

If I remember correctly off the top of my head I'm currently using CPS 13.05 or somewhere around that version. It's from an old subscription and no longer can get upgrades.

I'm thinking of paying for the sub to CPS again not only to get the newer CPS but also firmware updates for these radios. If I order the CPS it's my understanding that the firmware packages are included for free. Am I correct with this understanding?

Also, my last question so far is can I just download the current (new) firmware package and upgrade these radios or does it have to be upgraded in steps like the older Pro Series (HT1250) series radios?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Cheers.

The current CPS is 15.0. You definitely need newer than 13 to upgrade firmware 2.07.xx and probably 2.06.xx

With the purchase, you get 3 years of upgrades to ALL TRBO cps releases and firmware upgrades. You will not need to upgrade those in steps.
