I don't think you'd have a chance of hearing any of these freqs.

The only possibility would be the Andrews CP freqs 378.1 & 141.55 (AM). 141.55 has been out of service for awhile and not sure it's back in use.

Hi, I am a newbie to Mil Comm radio and would like to know if someone could point me in the right direction for frequencies in my area. I am on the South West coast of Florida near North Port Sarasota County. I have no problem doing the leg work, but I just want to make sure I am researching the correct material. Many thanks in advance.

You might want to contact Al Stern (AllanStern@aol.com). He's a veteran milair guy who lives in FL and is plugged into the FL Milair stuff.

Guys,

Looks like the 121st FS F-16s are gearing up for the Inauguration and sharpening their intercept skills as well as coordination w/Huntress:

0755 EST- Brave flt (2 X F-16s, 121st FS DC ANG ADW)-check in w/ZDC Calvert (281.4) then check in

w/Huntress (139.7). Also w/BW (305.2) for use of R-4006 from 3,500 ft to FL400 for 45 mins.

Practicing high level (FL200)TOI intercepts on discrete (256.5) then moved to R-6609 for low level

TOI intercepts.

jdeverett -

Welcome to utility monitoring! Here are a few sites to get you started:

Milcom Monitoring Post. These are the same guys who wrote the Milcom section for Monitoring Time: Milcom Monitoring Post

Utility DXers Forum. This site has been around a VERY long time and focus on all things utility on the airwaves, not just military. They'll have some overlap with with the previous site, but also some other, non-military data: UDXF - Utility DXers Forum

Utility Monitoring Central. This site has also been around for a very long time. They have a great section with signal pictures and sounds. Utility Monitoring Central

If you Google "utility monitoring" or "utility frequencies" you will get a lot of additional information, but the 3 sites I just listed should give you an excellent starting point.

I love Milcom monitoring. Finding and trying to decode military signals is one of my favorite aspects of radio.

Decoding military data signals is all but impossible these days as pretty much everything is encrypted. However, there are several good programs that can demodulate various signal types so you can see the encrypted text. Get a copy of Fldigi and MultiPSK. Between those two, you'll be able to demodulate many of the signals you hear/see. Fldigi is free. MultiPSK is free for basic modes, but for a one-time license fee you get many additional "professional" modes and additional features. The MultiPSK user interface is cluttered and somewhat difficult to navigate initially. However, like anything else, as you become familiar with it, it's just as easy to use as anything else. MultiPSK decodes more modes than anything else (other than VERY expensive professional decoding software).

Good luck, 73 - David, AG4F

The Mode-s database is incorrect,i have seen several C-21A still listed to ND ARNG or Battle Creek, they no longer have any C-21A and the C-21A fleet has been cut drastically, less than 20 in the entire fleet,Andrews,Scott,Peterson and Ramstein, are the only units that have C-21A now.
