Well I finally pulled the dunce hat off and figured out how to use Win 500 and I also downloaded PSREdit-500. I like the PSREdit 500 but for some reason the hit counter won't work. I have it enabled but it still records no hits. The Win500 records the hits. I think I will try both of them for the evaluation period and make a decision then. I love the 106!!!!

Did you turn on the hit counter option in the radio?

Download your configuration from the radio into PSREdit500, then check to see if the "Enable Hit Counts" option is checked (it's in the lower left corner area of the General Configuration tab). If that's not checked, click on it to turn it on and upload the configuration back into the scanner. You should then get hit counts on the radio.

If you're using the remote control program, it does not update the file with hit counts. The remote control software that's included with PSREdit500 is very basic control package, and doesn't interact with the file at all. Downloading the configuration into PSREdit500 should show you the counts that are in the radio.

I walked intio a RS in Toledo Ohio earlier today (Nov 4). Picked out a 106...the fellow scanned the 30% off coupon...it accepted it....walked out with a 106 for less than $300.

Amazing.

Man did I get lucky today. I was reading in here about the discounts some of you recieved so I went down to the closest RS store that had the Pro-106 and asked if they had it in stock. Luckily they did and I asked how much. He told me $399, including the $100 discount. So I started asking about the F&F discount, trying to negotiate a little. He finally gave in and gave me the 30% discount with a free power supply but I bought some rechargeable batteries. I was prepared to pay the $399 but I guess the guy really wanted to make a sale. Yep, this was my lucky day. lol Oh and this was the manager I was dealing with.

Wow you are luckily, especially since the 30% off deal ended on the 2nd! That's what I love about Radioshack though!

If GRE comes out with an update before the end of the month for the 500/600 it might hurt Uniden sales also, along with the RS sale, but, from what I read allot of people are waiting for the new Uniden.

I agree I am buying a 396xt as well if my budget allows.

I just figured maybe RS would put the 106 on sale right when the Uniden comes out.

If someone was still undecided maybe choosing between a $500 Uniden and a $299 RS would tilt the scales.

Although some people will still buy the Uniden for sure... and we know most of the $299 106's would just be bought up by people to put on ebay for $450
