Well here it is! Finally done, enjoy the video.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/26PLdpXjhnE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

My 9c1 serves as a daily driver, storm chase vehicle, POV for Fire/Rescue and sometimes used for traffic as a reserve officer.

Disclaimer: My Impala is NOT an authorized emergency vehicle, I'm not a sworn LEO and I don't pretend to be nor does my fire department allow lights/sirens. I prefer to drive and chase in a heavy duty vehicle, the 9c1 gets far better gas mileage than a Ford CVPI. So with that said, here's what's inside...

WINDSHIELD
* Garmin GPS
* KAKE Vehicle DVR
* Logitech HD Webcam

CONSOLE - Troy
* Droid2 Mount
* Dual Band Wilson Cellular Amplifier
* Motorola Spectra VHF Radio
* GE MDX UHF Radio
* Kenwood TM-V71A Dual Band Radio
* RadioShack Pro-2055 Conventional/Trunking Scanner
* Motorola GTX 900Mhz/33cm Radio
* HHCH Motorola Spectra VHF High Power

LAPTOP
* Troy Console Base
* Jotto Desk Mount
* ASUS UL50VT with Windows 7 and Windows XP
* GPS Puck

Very nice setup! Where did you get the DVR?

It's just one of the Chinese one's on eBay. Do a search for 'car dvr' and you'll get TONS of results. My chase partner, W6UDF, purchased a newer one that has gps and dual cameras. I'll be upgrading to that one soon :p

Looks good! I've got one of those "dash cams" in my truck as well! 16GB card holds A LOT of video!

Yea I just threw an 8GB one in there, holds about 4ish hours of the high quality video which is more than enough. Works pretty good considering what I paid!

How is the performance of your GTX? What type of coax are you using on that radio to the antenna?

Nice job, but why did you cowl mount antennas in the front when you had the roof available? Just curious because I've never seen antennas mounted on the cowl of a impala before.

Yea, my thoughts exactly, didn't think anyone else would pick that up. Either roof mount or just trunk lip mount.

I just thought it was a northerner "thing." :D Most normal people down my way put the two way radio antennas on the roof or on the back part of their vehicles. The only exception is the AM / FM antennas and the antenna(s)s mounted on the mirror(s) of the larger pick ups pulling trailers. Heck when I do see one mounted like that the OCD comes out and I get a strong urge to "fix it." Probably the only thing holding me back is a damage to property charge and arrest. :D

Seriously though it is a nice setup (other than the antennas mounted on the front) and I wish I had the funds to spend on equipment like that. :)

Why is there a need for a "disclaimer" ?

Some forum members find it interesting to label anybody outfitting their vehicle as done by the OP as a "whacker" (one pretending to be an official when not having any standing as a LEO, VolFF/EMT/PM, etc.) The disclaimer is to head off such labels before they start.

Seems like that label would be pretty fitting in this case. He would have a much more effective "chase" vehicle by using a standard SUV which would keep him from having to screw his radios, amps, whatever to the prisoner partition that I'm sure he gets a lot of use out of... I cannot think of a reason he would need anything "heavier duty" than a Blazer, Explorer, Grand Cherokee, etc which can all be had for the same money.

Awesome setup! You gave me some ideas for my antennas on my 2010 Impala.

It's sad when you have to put a disclaimer on your posts, yet still have S.A.P's stalk the forums for any Crown Vic, Impala, or Charger setups and tell you that you should get something else...
