Well, I decided against drilling a hole anywhere on the pickup. I don't give a rip the old truck being affected in value. I don't want some jackass I don't know trying to charge me a ridiculous sum to install this wonderful antenna.

For a Chinese made product, it sure works very well. I drove at to IH35 without setting the SWRs. I asked for a radio check. I heard it loud & proud from the 328 to 339-mile marker on IH35, barefooted. He said my signal was strong. So, the advice of mounting this on the left fender worked great. I can damn sure tell a difference in reception, thus far.

Why do I know this will likely work? I've owned around 3 or 4 Tram 3500 CB antennas with the 5-inch magnet with the rubber boot.

One day, I might climb the ladder of American made antennas, but for right now this one kicks arse.

I bought a no-hole mount, using existing bolts on the truck. It worked perfect.

Thanks for the help.

All that matters in the end is that you have a tool that does what you need. Sounds like you are there.

After attempting to set the SWR, I forgot to tighten the smaller coax into the PL-259. I headed to the Ross CB shop. He discovered the mistake & tuned it for me. Oddly enough, the MFSOB Antone 500-M crapped out on the way.

He said he could not repair it. He described it as a mini-computer as opposed to a traditional CB.

I snagged this Cobra 29 in a parking lot near the Flying J in Joplin. When I approached his vehicle, two German Shepherds met me. He was sitting in the car with loads of fast food wrappers everywhere. Hence, I thought he was a bit sketchy.

When I fired it up, I could not believe my good fortune.

Well, I learned a lesson yesterday. Listen to those who are in the know.

I returned to my old standard.

Piss on Chinese radios.

Thanks for all of the help!
