wow - thats interesting

How do the race car radio systems perform in general? Seems to me that I have sometimes heard drivers complain about missing messages in the few times that I have listened to race comms.

I guess thats perception to some extent. I am sure a road course there are issues. For most tracks I think the work well. We camp in turn 4 at Charlotte and I can listen to all practice stuff from inside the MH. There are times i can't hear the driver from that distance but spotter and CC normally come in fine. From the inside of the track its fine from the seats. Rarely do i miss a comm. YMMV

Having purchased the RacingElectronics scanner sheet at Chicagoland, I can confirm that the above is correct. A few notes:

Kurt Busch did use 460.4250
Daniel Hemric was using his secondary frequency at Charlotte, 468.6000 was his primary at Chicago.
Chris Beuscher used 460.2750 at Chicago with a backup listed as 457.5375
Quinn Houff (Spire motorsports) used 461.6625
Kyle Larson did use 452.4750 but I needed the CTCSS-DCS codes to filter out bleedover from NBC when the squelch wasn't high enough. From IndyCar experience, I know the team changes the codes each year.

NBC TV used 454.4000 as the primary, 450.6375 450.5875 450.5375 as secondary (among others)
As always MRN is 454.0000

For the truck race, FS1 broadcast on 450.3625 450.4875 450.1625 450.2625

And the ARCA race, FS1 only broadcast on 450.7375

If interested, I do have updated Xfinity frequencies (along with Indycar but that's another thread).

Fs1 freq was used for Arca as mentioned. As I find my notes I'll post all media finds for Xfinity Media and Cup race media

Team Radios. Gibbs and Penske both use a Kenwood model unsure radio bought but not programmed by RE.(both teams have there own radio guy) Hendrick-moto trbo, RCR- Moto trbo, Gannassi Moto trbo, SHR Moto trbo, and Petty also Moto trbo. Saw many teams alphanumeric displays with digital channels on display

Roush Yate engine folks using 3different radios one trbo. Goodyear tires employees had a scanner and a uhf radio possibly trbo.. Ford employees trbo and a mix of others on there belts. Chevy and Toyota TRD I didn't catch what radios there using.

I saw a couple of possible nbc employees possible techs using a possible dmr radio..I couldn't figure out what the uhf trbo media freqs I found maybe nexedge?

I would like to figure out who or what is 450.900 and 9875 digital I find at races kb2ztx any ideas

Ok so fan vision kangatv was on 569mhz at this event sandwiched in the TV range(I had to read the setting tab menu during a boring rain delay

For most part Fox,NBC,MRN were only using generic uhf older radios. I'm searching for a non 450 freq I found MRN audio on this may have been intermod. Had a re3000 uniden 230,330 on hand

Xfinity racemedia was using450.0875 151.4, 1625 ,2625, 2875, 3375, 3625, 3875, 4875, 5375, 5875,6375. Mrn 456.3125 MRN 454.000

Hey @kb2ztx, thanks for the list! Quick question: Am I reading correctly that some drivers use tone (e.g. 24 @ 229.1) and others use DTCS (e.g. 95 @ 134) for their tone mode?

Each team/driver frequency also uses a CTCSS or DCS tone code. The tone codes prevent bleed over on the frequencies which is common at race tracks due to all the transmissions being in such close proximity.
Make sure you have the correct tone or you will not hear any of the transmission.

Heard 464.8875 CC13 SL1 TG 10000010 (DMR encrypted) during the 2019 NASCAR Brickyard 400 practice session today. This has been reported in years past in use by NASCAR officials. Radio IDs were 1700s and 1800s.

I could hear 461.200 DCS432 at the same time quite often but my reception of 461.200 was so faint (3 miles away from the track) that I can’t confirm if it’s always simulcast.

Didn’t confirm any other NASCAR or media related analog or DMR activity other than IMS track channels already listed in the Indiana Sports wiki page. IMS track safety mentioned something about a “channel 1A” in the NASCAR radios.

When I was at Martinsville last year I had lots of (presumably) NASCAR officials stuff on 463.6250. Talkgroups 13000013 and 14000014, both encrypted full time.
