cant connect BC436HP scanner to pc

In mass storage mode my computer and Sentinental does not recognize the scanner. It is my understanding that in this mode it should show up as a storage device in windows? Also in this mode the entry in device shows an exclamation mark for this device, but in serial mode the driver loads correctly. I formatted the SD card and now I am stuck in an endless loop on the scanner every time I turn the scanner on. I also tried different USB ports and cables. Seeing the scanner is not recognized I cannot clear user data. Just got the scanner yesterday and shipping it back today,,,,, unless someone can privide some help. And before someone comments about being new to computers, I have been a computer technician for the last 19 years, thanks.

Had the same problem w/ mine, worked the first time I connect, then never again. It's a defect w/ the scanner software, once it goes into that mode, no getting out of it, just have to return the scanner for a replacement & pray you get one that will continue to work correctly. Some people have had to resort to removing the sd card & using an adapter to connect to their computer to donwload new settings.

If Device Manager is showing an error in the connection, it can't be a bug in the software. Windows will not allow use of devices with erred connections. The solution is to fix the connection issue which involves the card and the external storage drivers in Windows.

It sounds like the Mass Storage is trying to use the Serial drivers which of course is not correct. First suggestion is to remove and update the driver using Device Manager and it should restore the correct driver.
