Harris OpenSky

Any chance Harris OpenSky decoding could be developed.

It uses the AMBE+2 vocoder, 4 slot TDMA.

How do you take this little gadget on the go with you in your vehicle if you need a computer to run the software? Or am I missing something?

Mike

Once you setup the conventional or trunking channels in a scan group using the computer, you unplug the USB lead and plug the ADCR25 into a USB cig lighter power adapter or other USB port in your car.
As soon as the ADCR25 receives power it will start scanning/trunking.

You still need to feed the ADCR25 audio output into an 'AUX' port on your stereo, use a bluetooth audio adapter or some other amplified speaker if you don't want to listen on earbuds.

I'm not convinced of the merit of this device in a mobile environment though. It is probably OK if you just want to monitor a few conventional freqs or one trunking system, but for anything more you just don't have enough (any) control over what is going on.

As a PC connected unit it does work quite well.

Don't forget, this is only the first version :)

With the current firmware ADCR25_PRO2 board receives conventional direct DMR channels and it decodes repeater channels as well. It doesn't decodes Motorola CON+ and CAP+ systems due to its proprietary closed technology. In my future plans is to add Motorola RAS channel receiving capability (not decoding RAS but the ability to receive voice in RAS channels).

Wow!!!

I wish Unden would come out with firmware updates as frequent as this guy :)

Why is it that a RU3ANQ can produce a good little product like this, with firmware updates almost every week addressing bugs that users report, yet a huge corporation like Uniden struggles to produce 2 firmware updates in 18 months for it's 'flagship' products?

They really are becoming a (sad) joke.

Loving your work Andrey..

I look forward to a multi-band version too.

Also fixed a bug (was in case of TSBK only trunks) with CHANNELS history - all hits was placed to the 851Mhz frequecny. Now hits placed to the right voice frequencies.

There is absolutely no reason why Uniden or "Whistler" haven't been able to put out a DMR capable scanner by now. Well, maybe there are two reasons:

1- They just don't care that much about their scanner product line and don't care to invest in it.

2- They "may" have received money from Mother M not to make a DMR scanner so Mother M can continue to market MotoTRBO as "unscannable" and "private"?

Scanner manufacturers are so behind that I think theyll become more and more useless as more people go the software, SDR and/ or commercial radio route for monitoring the many digital modes you can't hear on a scanner.

I know I have no use for a scanner today, except to use it for discriminator tap audio.

I'd rather give my money to this Russian engineer and the developers of DSD. They are the future of scanning. I am thankful for people like them!

Thank you so much.

Let's keep this thread focused on the ADCR25 and not Uniden. No more Uniden posts, please.
