65xxx are Supergroups(Multiselect/patch) they can show up anywhere on the network and are usually used when toning out multiple departments. Schertz, Universal City, Live Oak, Cibolo, and Selma are all part of the Randolph Metrocom area and usually have patches in the 653xx range. as Rattler stated earlier, there may be someone up in the Brown county area that has a radio tuned to Schertz EMS Talkgroup and that is why all the supergroup patches are appearing. I mentioned the Schertz EMS Talkgroup specifically because they handle EMS for all the above cities mentioned earlier and is usually patched for each call that goes out in that area.

This was sent to me yesterday and expands on my previous post. I have cropped it to remove Identifying information. I am not trying to start a panic or mass debate. I am curious to see what stance the County will adopt when they start migrating over. I am also curious to see if they might also consider something like a phase 2 control channel as well to help further complicate listening.

Not a big deal. Cartels have been busting encryption for a while now. Ho hum.

AES really does not surprise me. They hid for years on ProVoice before anything could really decode them, then turned on ESK when they figured out Harris radios could RX them.

As for Phase II control channels, I doubt we will see any changes to the control channel format. I would be floored if they are not using LLA, however.

Looks like site 6 is up again. I caught 852.6500 while searching with no antenna next to the site. I programmed it as a TDMA system and put my scanner in search mode. I heard the TG's below while driving around S.A.

38256 SAPD Fleetwide
38581 UHS Hospital ER
38285 SAPD Information
38851 HBGCC Maintenance
41250 with radio ID 6097272, it was garbled, not sure if it was E or just a bad signal.
41300 did not hear any audio but the TG popped up on the display a few times.

The 41xxx are not in the database that I can find, possibly CPS?? I don't know, just asking.

Just FYI = from what I can see SAWS and CPS have pretty much migrated to the system.

CPS Electric is using talkgroups in the 41xxx range and is pretty much all encrypted.
SAWS is using 42xxx talkgroups and mostly in the clear

I've seen a few SAPD talkgroups pop up here and there, along with SAFD Dispatch and a few district channels and tacs....

It has been suggested to me by someone in that area that once the migration to P25 is complete, the 700 sites will be decommissioned and the frequencies returned to the state.

The original purpose being to create interoperability between users that had no desire to install a provoice radio in their vehicles (ala DPS, etc)
