Have we got any clue yet what the P25 is actually for? I work in EMS in the county, and all our radios are the 450 models (and fairly new), so I'm thinking probably not emergency services.

How far away are you from the city? I can receive pittsburgh PD from my home in bethel park. Will I be able to receive this new p25 from my residence or would I have to go to like mt washington to receive anything?

It's meant to be a countywide simulcast so yeah you should hear it.

The leading theory is the 800 site will be for DPW and non-public safety uses and an upcoming UHF site will be for countywide public safety, which your new radio was planned ahead to work with.

Can confirm. Even southern county areas have new apx radios. My friend is an EMS for the South and she received one within the past few months.

So it seems the stadium and the city radio have parted ways.
I guess the city turbo system is turned off since it is advertising P25.
WOW!?!
I don't understand. P25 is expensive. 800 does not fit with the single band 450 radios everyone has.
Turbo seemed to be a good fit for refuse, DPW and maybe the stadium. These are not mission critical.
I guess now the P25 can be in the consoles at the 911 center and the dog catcher can get off 453.525.

Those NXDN frequencies are not licensed to the city. I don't recognize them from the old city turbo system.
Here is the license for the NXDN:

The DMR Con+ system is still on the air. Just with less freq so we may need to another look at the LCNs for that system as this thing unfolds.
As of 10 AM, 10/10/2023, DPW and Acrisure is still on the DMR CON+ system, as I just heard them. I am listening to it now on one radio and I have the new P25 frequencies scanning in another radio. TG 26604 was just active on the P25.
Which TG from Acrisure did you hear? The NXDN system went on line on 9/23.

Frequencies updated for the 800 site. If anyone can get me some rough guess as to the usage of one of the reported talkgroups seen, I can get it added which will allow the system to be in the next weekly Sentinel update. Making it easier for some folks to use talkgroup search and flesh out more.

After reviewing about 8 hrs of recordings, nothing but radio checks with various RIDs. Probably Radio Service testing the radios before they go in service. The control channel is reporting 8 of the 12 current DMR system frequencies. It seems most likely to be a replacement for the DPW DMR Con+ system, but that is just a guess.

Looks like there may be more changes coming along over the next year or two to keep an eye on; the preliminary budget for 2024 was released and includes funds to upgrade more of the infrastructure. Text from the capital budget release:

"The equipment program is highlighted by $13 million in funding for a project to be administered by
Allegheny County Emergency Services (ACES). This project is a multi-year comprehensive
improvement designed and engineered countywide public safety radio communications system
that brings us to current day technology and security. A system that has never existed within
Allegheny County and is necessary to operate and manage all emergency and non-emergency
communications between our 9-1-1 Communications center and our nearly 400 public safety
agencies, regional county partners and the state."

On the City DMR system, I am still hearing activity on TG 22, 42, 46, and 52. Which are all listed as to be Acrisure stadium. Think 22 and 42 are security and 46 is warehouse, 52 is Steelers training camp. I can not pick up the new NXDN system at my house here in North Versailles. I see on their license, thay have like 15 FB2 repeater frequencies at 80 watts. Wonder if anyone has heard anything on the repeaters?

Interesting, my recordings have captured nothing from Acrisure Stadium on the DMR system. TG 52 is the UPMC Training Facility which is not at the stadium. So I am not surprised that one is still active. See below:

You need to be pretty much at the stadium to hear the new NXDN system.
