Allegheny County Jail has joined this system. They kept the frequencies they already have but changed the system ID and the NAC. This the TG for the Jail so far.
Sorry this sounds like a noob question but how do you just keep the frequencies and just change those two values and magically you're on another system?

wouldn't they have to change their frequencies to the same control channel frequencies?

Must still be low power. The FCC license says 150 watts. Not picking up the CC channel here in North Versailles.

Easy they change the controller for the repeater. This is not like programming a radio.

There is other technical details that I can’t go into.

Frequency and system have nothing to do with each other. A network connection has to be made to the main system and site equipment reprogrammed. They may have even replaced the old gear with new stuff on the same frequencies. Freqs don't change as they are licensed by site location.

Well that's a good explanation. Thank you very much

Was this in the clear I heard they were dabbling in encryption at the jail?
I did not hear any audio on this. The same talk group and UID came up a few times. In the above picture (ENC) was not seen. I happend to work down at the Jail that day and was trying to listen to the syem that I had from the data base and didnt hear anything for a hour. So I started a custom scan and that is what came up.

So when I worked at Mercy many years ago I very rarely heard any activity on this system. And the few times I have been down in intake Ive rarely seen the guards use their radios.

In case anyone tries to monitor this system. This site is very low power pretty much only for the jail itself and signal concentrated into that area.

Might have to take a trip up to mt Warshington sometime this week with my SDR and SDS to see what I can pickup. I can receive one of the jail frequencies but not the other two where i'm at currently.

With the Pittsburgh Marathon happening this weekend, I'll be recording the 800MHz site to see if the Event TG's from the DMR system got built into the P25 system.

The Event TGs are on the system 26611 and 26613, there may be more. Those are confirmed. Also the contractor who operates the Marathon for the City/Dick's brings/rents there own radios. Last time they were UHF DMR, they even had a temporary repeater up and running.

I believe the stadium is low power. Eventhough, their license says they have FB2 designators and put out 80 watts. I have the frequencies programmed into my SDS100 and during the last home football game, I scanned them the whole entire time. Never heard anything.
