I will be traveling from Cheyenne to Rapid City SD via US 85. Can someone tell me the best 2M and/or 70cm repeaters to monitor in case of an emergency? I will only have a 5W HT available.
i don't travel on 85 that much. Torrington has a machine on 146.73 -. the Newcastle machine (147.30 + with a 162.2 tone is linked to Gillette's 147.36 + 123hz and Sundance's 146.79- 100 hz. The Custer machine on Bear mountain is 146.85_ and is linked to terry peak 146.76- (has a tone I can't remember) which is linked to the 146.94_ machine in Rapid. you might also check out somne of the online sites like www.wsl.fm or Amateur Radio Repeater database - Updated daily if scanning don't forget 146.52 and 446 simplex. the linked machines have a good footprint.
