• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Thank you thank you THANK YOU!
Exactly the information I was looking for. Forum members like you are the reason I love forums. I'm glad I persevered until I got what I was looking for.

Very much appreciated. Have yourself a great holiday, and thank you as well to the others that took the time to offer some models for consideration.

A cheaper alternative to the HT1250 would be the MTS2000 model 2 or 3, although you will need to make sure that MDC is enabled in the flashcode.

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (BREW; Opera Mini/6.0.3/27.2338; U; en) Presto/2.8.119 320X240 LG VN530)

Is MDC-1200 used for Selcall between portable radios, as it appears the OP wants?
I'd look for DTMF SelCall, like the Standard C558A TwinBand HT from the early 90's I have. You could set a Group or All Call, as well as Individual Calling. Anybody with a scanner or other radio that didn't have SelCall set up can listen in, but the radios within your group would remain silent.
This shouldn't be too hard to find on current or recent manufacture commercial radios for your needs.

Thank you for the suggestions. I'll do some searching for MDC-1200 and DTMF Selective Calling and see what models support that.

I set up what you are looking for on a system we tested but never rolled out due restrictions at the worksite beyond our control(ended up on Nextel).
The system we tested was using Kenwood Protalk TK3130's set up with Selcal on Fleetsync. We were using 1 channel, with 4 groups and indidivual IDs to each radio. All call, Group call and Individual call were able to be made.
The TK3230 is the current radio in the Kenwood line and it has Fleetsync available and from looking at the manual it has full instructions for setting up Fleetsync via the radio buttons.

These are analog only radios. The tk3130 were used in target stores before the current Motorola radios, and the tk3230 are used in many Hone Depot stores.
