I'm curious why the tg has suddenly become active this week. I don't think that I've ever heard it in use until today; I know I've heard a Motorola rep on other shop talk groups. In any event, I've updated my logging software with the channel name, lol.

This Capital Budget proposal doc from last year shows some concept art for the new ECC budgeted for FY24. It also has photos of the current facilities.

Lately I've been noticing that fire alarm has been omitting major incidents from Pulse Point. I'm not sure this is being done purposely, but it is a concerning trend if so. What they need to work on is call processing time, not tampering with the public record.

Could be for privacy. I know multiple FD's down here in Hampton Roads that do that for major incidents

Not so good of an excuse. One for an aircraft crash into a creek; another for a propane tank fire. Both maybe newsworthy / sensational if things went south - but that's prejudging a bit. No privacy issues that I can see, message control or control of a scene more likely.

I think it is more how it is coded in CAD and then it isn't transferred into Pulsepoint.

Any act of violence (domestics, assault, shooting, stabbing, etc.) is never transmitted to PulsePoint. Any Covid/PUI calls also aren't sent to Pulsepoint.

I noticed too that the propane tank fire wasn't on Pulsepoint since I didn't get the alert but heard it dispatched. I know they always transmit building/dwelling/commercial box alarms but never do Chimney Fires assignments to PulsePoint. Aircraft Emergency calls also have never appeared on Pulsepoint too.

Yea, I'm a bit confused on the logic. But it seems lately that more incidents don't go out on Pulse Point - but can be heard over the air thankfully. We are lucky in AACo that tactical positioning is discussed pre-arrival by responding units. In other counties, it can be quiet.

A lot of those services will completely fail to alert if there is one character in the SMTP message out of "what is expected" by the app servers. Larger incidents are more prone to that failure simply because there are more units assigned.

More than likely don’t want the media getting wind of it before PIO is notified

Really you should be happy to get anything other than cardiac arrest notifications on pulsepoint. That's the whole purpose of the system is to alert people who can perform CPR & early defibrillation. Everything else you see is provided by their good graces. Don't shoot yourself in the foot by demanding more. That's a quick way to get even more delayed information.

I understand that re: PulsePoint's mission, however there are other jurisdictions who feed CAD to websites directly as a service to their citizens to keep them informed. I have been on record in this as a firm supporter of open government and unfettered dissemination of timely information about what is happening in the community, with deference to tactical necessity. Public officials need to learn how to deal with the inconvenience.

AAFD has recently started transmitting a lot more pre-arrival tactical comms on their various response talk groups, both between responding units and the dispatcher guarding the talk group. I'm wondering if this is a new policy implemented after reviewing the report on the Baltimore fire last year... Baltimore has a culture (noted in the report) of units racing to the fire scene to try to arrive first, rather than the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th due units actually performing specific tasks in a coordinated response.

It’s new policy put in place prior. All units are being held accountable, discipline is strict on it, because any miscommunication will be dealt with all the way from the top of the chain.

Not sure if this has been touched on elsewhere but heard some interesting communications today on SysTest 2. Sounded like AAFD Charlie was either patched in or running simultaneously on the new system. Audio was crystal clear, unfortunately I didn't think to snag the recordings or bother with looking at UID's as I was driving most of the day.
