Getting back to last night's carjacking incident, it occurs to me that Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties should think about either an ISSI connection or Critical Connect. There are incidents like this that sadly are becoming routine where the knuckleheads decide to carjack somebody to get home instead of getting an Uber. There have been several pursuits of fleeing suspects that originated in the Forest Drive area of Annapolis and continue on Aris T Allen / MD 665, then onto US 50 westbound towards Prince George's and DC. Maintaining adequate comms is essential for officer safety, and asking an officer to switch channels at high speed is something that should not have to happen. BTW, I commend the officer for nixing the channel switch during the pursuit - good judgement on his part.

That just does not work with the type 2 systems. With P25 it could be an option.

The SmartZone system was running on an alternate control channel at about 9:14pm this evening. The system has been a bit scratchy since a failure a few weeks ago. Not sure what's going on. The VHF FTO channel has also been scratchy at times lately.

Yesterday, just after midnight Fire Alarm went on Condition Red. Per RID's it looked like Fire Alarm was using portables to communicate. Then at about 1245 am, they did a radio check with each station including BWI, Fort Meade, & USNA, and all the Chief Officers/Supervisors. Fire Alarm than went off of condition red at about 2 AM.

It was very odd. That is the first time I have ever heard them do that in the many years I have been monitoring.

Agree that things have been off last few weeks. The system used to come in clearly now sounds distorted at times.

Fire/Police Patches that haven't been active since April popped up again today. Additional county talkgroups for other departments are being patched over too.

Horrible and low in my opinion. There shouldn’t be any reason why I need to have my G5 up to 100 but hey ! I’m hearing them from Frederick.
Keep in mind this is console patched from the analog smartzone talkgroups thru a smart-x site converter. This is not how the organic P25 traffic will sound once they switch.

It partly depends on the quality of the analog signal - it can get scratchy at times and the A-D conversion suffers. I was driving through on 50 this morning and the volume was a bit low on the senior care transport tg.

The following patches are up from the old system to the new system. No users (other than radio techs) are active on the P25 system.

8606 21L School Buses
8608 Schools Communications Center
8616 Aging Transportation
8627 Annapolis Transportation 1
8629 21C Annapolis Services
8708 DPW Water Service Turnoffs
8709 20D DPW Water/Sewer Substations
8710 20E Water Line Maintenance
8713 Landfill 2 (Millersville Central Recycling Center)
8743 Fire Alpha
8744 Fire Bravo
8745 Fire Charley
8746 Fire Delta
8747 Fire Echo
8748 Fire Foxtrot
8749 Fire George
8750 Fire Hotel
8751 Fire India
8752 Fire Juliette
8753 Fire Kilo
8754 Fire Lima
8755 Fire Mike
8756 Fire November
8828 20H Inspections & Permits - Main
8843 Northern District (ENC)
8844 Eastern District (ENC)
8845 Western District (ENC)
8846 Southern District (ENC)
8903 Park Ops 1
8904 Park Ops 2
8905 Park Ops 3

There are some patches active on the P25 system:
8777/8756
8616/8617
8697, 8699, 8700, 8701, 8702, 8703, 8704, 8705, 8706 are all patched together.

I haven't monitored the Aging talkgroup closely but I wonder if AACo Transit Buses are also active on the Aging Talkgroup (Old System) and that in the future these two separate agencies will be separated and that is why 8616/8617 are patched together.

None of the Annapolis PD, Sheriff, Detention, AACC Public Safety, or AAPD talkgroups other than the districts are being patched over.

****I would refrain from submitting any of these talkgroups to the database. As we do not know if they will actually be the real talkgroups that users will use, if there will be talkgroup name changes, or if they will stay in the clear/enc****
