Hey goy's, I just built 2 yagi antenna's, and they are stuck inside for a while. I am also still testing them.
Fact is;
They are both at ceiling light level, within 2 feet beside the lightt. All the signal's I'm trying to hear is in the same direction as where my power comes from, I-O-W, the antenna's are at within the 1 foot range as to where the power wires, they run--- paralell with my signal's..
Question is;
Does that interfere with my reception?

The wiring might detune them, but you didn't specify what frequency they are on. The spacing that would affect this depend on the frequency.
The lighting fixture itself could affect things, just like the wiring affecting the tuning.

The electricity itself, specifically 60hz AC shouldn't cause issues for FM. Where you might run into issues is if there are appliances in your house that generate RF interference that gets radiated out of the electrical wiring. Some cheap power supplies can do that, so can some florescent lamps, as well as some LED lights.

I don't know. Maybe you can tell us. You're the one with the antennas next to the wiring. It CAN interfere, but it doesn't HAVE to. And we have no way of telling.

I am scanning VHF and UHF, and wires are right above-- I don not have a better trial area at the moment due to WX...Looks like I gotta wait for good enough conditions.. Where i wanna go for grand trial is on a hill. Very windy right now, wait til later. Thanks guys

Trial

Well, I did a quick signal check. Bottom line, power lines do affect yagi's closer than 3 feet to power lines. You wouldn't beleive some of the signals I got with that tiny yagi just setting on my dashboard, wow! O.K, thanks
