• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

For a 27 MHz antenna on a Jeep I've never found anything that works better than a 3" ball mount on the driver's side of the tub. Yes, ball mounts are a commitment. It's kind of like parachuting, you either do it or you don't. But a 4-5' Firestick, Francis or whatever on a 3" ball mount will absolutely tune and work well.
I have many jeep friends that swear by the ball mount... and I have a very smart friend that used to put ball mounts and 102 whips on the police cars... he also swears by them!

I've been looking for a jeep for 2 years... I'm the cheapest guy on the planet... this was for sale for $4999.00 for a long time... it was hit in the back and had some bends in the quarters.. but it was a 2015, jacked up, big tires and a winch bumper with Warn winch.... I passed on it.. but I was impressed with the ball mount on the back.

I'll check the driver's side tomorrow. You would think it should be identical on both sides.
don't bother to check..... after thinking how my coax was crushed on my brand new Stryker.. I know that, a coax would never go between the hood and cowl... never mind a cb bracket.... that's not going to be an option for me.

I don't think any antenna I put on the tail light mount is going to work... but I was just thinking I wonder what I could put back there ( if I can get that bracket and mount to work) .... my Stryker SAR-10 works pretty damn good on the hood... no matter what direction he turned the signal was always great.... very pleased with it...
so I thought I wonder how this would hold up on the back of a jeep???

I already checked this morning. The driver's side is identical to the passenger side. It is a factory bent lip right in the appropriate spot for a lip-mount.

I don't know what it is about a ball mount that makes them work so well, but they're great. On our trucks in the 80s, we all ran steel whips on a ball mount on top of the headache rack. Yeah, the stop lights made them look like a question mark going down the road, but they worked great.
