Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all

For PD 502 and PD 505, am I correct in saying that the 3 encryption tick box options are all 'basic' privacy with either 10, 32 or 64 char length?

So no hope of being compatible with moto or anytone enhanced privacy?

thanks.
Yes only supports basic encryption
Basic is hyteras own propitiatory encryption so should only work with other hytera radios
The enhanced privacy is the standard with other manufactures

Hello guys, could you please someone confirm that mentioned TYT radio is working properly with ARC4 40-bit Hytera radios? (ie Hytera HP 685). I have AnyTone D878 UVII Plus and can't get it working with Hytera ARC4 (proper key IDs, proper values of course). I would like to find a cheaper radio than original Hytera to get this working. I will be grateful for any advice.

Why doesn't it work? Because it's proprietary to Hytera. Same reason MotoTRBO Basic Privacy only works with other Motorola radios. Proprietary.

Things like AES and ARC4/ADP are shared open standards.

Even though ARC4 and AES are standards they aren’t always compatible. One example of this is that MotoTRBO radios won’t work with Motorola EVX radios with either one. I have tried extensively with the R7, DP3441e and the EVX-S24. EVX won’t work with the others using ARC4 or AES unfortunately.

The modern MotoTRBO radios do however work just fine with the Anytone 878 and probably most other modern radios using either.

In PD series radios:

Basic Encrypt(Full) is RC4, which corresponds to Motorola Enhanced Privacy.
Full Encrypt-Hytera is Hytera's own encryption standard and is only compatible with Hytera radios.
Full Encrypt-DMRA is AES256, which matches AES256 on other manufacturers' radios.

For HP series radios:

Basic Encrypt(Full) is RC4, which corresponds to Motorola Enhanced Privacy.
Full Encrypt-Standart is AES256, which matches AES256 on other manufacturers' radios.
