HI Folks the older AOR scanners had a lot of problems with Birdies. sensitivity, a high band that got clobbered very esasily from paging services and TV and a Delay that was Bass Ackwards. Normal delay starts when you recieve a signal. The AOR delay word work on a quick transmission less than a second but after you have been on a channel listening to your favorite PD or FD etc the scanner would resume scanning a couple milliseconds after the end of a transmission. IT was useless.
They made a nice package but don;t pay more than 10 bucks for a vintage AOR scanner. Save your money and for 99 bucks you can get a beginer uniden or something. 73's

I just became a AR8600 user this week. Friend of mine gave it to me.
Still trying figure out how to use it! Found AR86ctrl free software on WWW.
Right now I am listening to Sean Hannity on KFBK 1530 kHz. The SSB seems to
work OK. Using a 22 inch whip for now, wonder if a outdoor discone will cause
intermod problems. My BC780XLT and BCD996T perform better.
