When sending a file to my Unident 396 a message box saying "System Read Watchdog" popped up. Does anyone know what that means?

I have heard the term "watchdog" in relation to Novell/NetWare parameters and configurations.
It may be a simple "we got your email".
Googling seems to lead in that direction.

I sometimes get that same message using ARC 246. I don't know what it means either, I just press "OK" and it continues sending the file(s) to my scanner. If you contact Gommert, he could help.

I attempted to post that on Arc, where I thought I was a member. It would not let me post. I did the e-mail thing to Gommert.

Thanks for the advice!

Hello,

It appears that the Butel ARC396 Yahoo group is set up as an announcement list to which only Mr. Buysen can post. I have asked questions about ARC396 in the ARC246 forum, and received prompt, courteous replies.

Here's the response to an e-mail I sent to Gommert:

Hi,

This means the software did not get a reply from the scanner within a set time frame.

This should rarely happen, first make sure you run the latest ARc396
1.022 release.
Howmany memory is used in the 396? The more systems are stored in the 396, the slower the scanner replies to serial commands.

Also lowering the baudrate may help. Finally we have seen this with some USB converters, if you use USB check the suppliers website for an up to date driver.

Kind regards,

Gommert Buysen
