No emulation software. I use my wife's laptop to upload from the ARC500 software. There is a drop down box on the upload tab that allows me to select which port I want to use. I just ran through each one on the dropdown list until it worked with the upload. Fortunately it was the third from the top.

I didn't mean to imply that the issue was resolved. I was responding to a comment earlier in the thread. My apologies.

I do not see the ARC500 Software.
Look at the properties of comport 3 and try slower speed
Common transfer modes tend to work are: 9600bps, 57,600bps and 115,200bps Note, some devices don't like to be completely erased at its' highest transfer rate, safer erasing is believed to best done at a mid to slow rate

Hello - I'm having trouble uploading scan lists from the Butel ARC500 software to my Whistler 1065 scanner. I'm able to do the upload but for some reason the scanner does a default reset and then says 'nothing enabled'. Please help!!

From:
  • I am receiving a "Nothing Enabled Error" after programming my radio
If you imported info into ARC500 and/or uploaded programming to your scanner and you receive the message "Nothing Enabled" on your radio, you need to assign the frequencies or talkgroups to a "scanlist". This can be done easily in the software by going to the scanlist column next to the alpha tag column, in either Coventional or Talkgroup under Scannable Objects, and typing in the scanlist number. When each frequency and/or talkgroup has been assigned a scanlist you can then proceed with uploading the information to the scanner.

Also from: Object Oriented Scanners Issues - The RadioReference Wiki
  • Nothing Enabled error:
    • No scanlists are enabled. Turn on one or more scanlists.
    • Scanlists are enabled but empty. Create and/or associate objects with scanlists.
    • Scanlist is enabled but all objects in scanlist are locked out. Unlock some objects.

I see 3 different files everything should be in the same file
Download READS the scanner
UPLOAD WRITES the scanner
Conventional needs to be in 1 list and trunking needs to be in a separate list

I am checking the ARC500 files. The largest one uses only 52% of the memory. In object-oriented scanners, conventional objects and trunked objects can be mixed in the same scan list. I have done it. I don't know why there are 3 files either. All of the programming must be in a single file. When you upload a file to the scanner, it overwrites all of the existing scan lists. You cannot add one scan list at a time. I don't understand why the scanner should reset at the end of an upload. I uploaded the "Trunked" file to my PRO-106 and it is scanning. Other than the ARC500 software or scanner firmware being corrupted, I cannot think of anything else other than a defective scanner. If the demo time or the number of allowed uploads and downloads are exceeded without purchasing the software, you would not see the percentage of the upload on the scanner display. Uploads and Downloads are disabled. You would get a notice about purchasing the software.

I guess I'm just gonna program it manually. Thank you very much for taking the time with this.

Let's try reloading the firmware in your scanner. The 1040 and 1065 use the same firmware. Save the attached zipped file to your computer and extract. Turn your scanner off. While holding the PROG button, turn the scanner on. That will place the scanner in firmware upgrade mode. Connect the scanner to your computer and run the extracted updater. Once completed, turn off the scanner and unplug the cable. Turn the scanner back on and plug in the cable. Try uploading the "Trunked" programming file to the scanner again.
