Hey all I just purchased a BCD996P2 along with ARC pro software. I’m in Auburn Wa trying to get PSERN loaded which they are in the middle of migrating to. Is the new P25 system one frequency trunk or standard? Do I select all sites and frequencies or just the one closest to me? Also with the ARC software I’m under the impression that I should be able to just plug in USB cable from scanner to PC, download frequencies from RR and be good. I’ve been using a RS Pro-2050 which I have mastered Motorola Type ll trunking programming manually. Appreciate any help. Thanks 😊

PSERN is a normal Project 25 Phase II system (multi-site / control channels / channel grants)

Always remember: you scan sites/control channels - NOT trunkgroups.
The radio will sit on the control channel for X milliseconds 'listening' for a channel grant.
If none occurs, it moves on to the next site/control channel.
So.... the more sites you scan, the longer it takes and the more you will miss.

Only scan close sites.
One caveat: It is possible for a department to only affiliate with certain site(s).
So, if you are not scanniing the site they are on, you will miss their traffic.

Thank you for this thread. I'm a relatively new SDS200 user and thought it odd that Seattle PD went silent. haha, now I know why. I browsed the PSERN website to learn a little bit on the background. Now it's time for me to try to figure out how to get PD and Fire depts et al live again.

While I'm trying to figure this out, it was neat to be able to listen in on the Blue Angels as they're in town for several days.

You can enter all 8 sites and assign each one a different system quick key. You can then easily select the site or sites you wish to scan by pressing their numbers on the keypad. Here is a PDF file which will answer all of your questions about using quick keys:
