The KMA products look very attractive (in a radio-geek sense) but the comparison to the Create Industries that prcguy posted isn't exactly comparing apples to apples. I really got a chuckle out of this comment of his: "The KMA Rover covers 88-1300MHz with about 3dB more gain (twice the boom length) than the 105-1300MHz CREATE and it cost less." TWICE THE BOOM LENGTH as the Create model doesn't exactly make it a fair comparison, and twice the boom length for just 3dB more gain (assuming that's correct info...) was much funnier than some joke about Create Antennas floating away (Create does a much better job listing product specs, including gain figures, than KMA's web -- look for yourself). As for the KMA pricing, unfortunately I get an 404 - Not Found error message when I try to access the KMA site's Price List page.

It's curious to me that the KMA web page shows their VHF/UHF RLPAs in horizontal polarization in the tiny photos, whereas most people would be mounting them vertically.

The Create Industries RLPA I had survived Michigan's icy Winters, rainy Springs & hot Summers without the "plastic" insulators (dare I ask what fantastic material KMA uses for insulators?) ever "exploding" so again, prcguy paints a picture that seems mostly cartoonish, but the KMA products are certainly worth looking into, and I'm sending them email right now.

I'm sorry we've hijacked this thread about discones!

Here's the discone I expect to have up on my roof in the near future:

If anyone has some direct experience with it & can offer some cogent commentary about it, please do!
