Yes you plug it into your computer then plug it into your 436 in you should get a pop up for a new drive then you open the new drive setup. Exe or you could download it from Uniden

It has two ports the top one is the GPS the bottom of USB allows you to do firmware updates and update all the frequencies and talk groups systems in your 436 your computer has to have a internet connection and you'll be able to update your database to the newest version you can use the Uniden GPS for when you're traveling so you don't have to input your location manually

Got that thanks. I already have the Uniden GPS puck and have used both ports for GPS connection and charging batteries. Just have to figure out how to use update for database between computer and 436.

Before you do any of that..make sure you can even get the control channelin conventional mode. If you can't receive it then there is no point

The software pulls information from Radio reference database for you you don't have to go to any website you just have to open the Uniden Sentinel Program with your turned on and 436 plugged in via usb to you cmputer and then click on the update database drop down it will then start updating and it will tell you when it's done

Thanks I see. I was hoping that before go to the next step (computer) I was hoping I could already pick up BART like I get other departments already without using computer program yet and at the same time to get more familiar with this scanner since it is new to me.

No not locked out besides after you turn radio off or on isn't that only temporary? I notice alot of the same news media channels keep coming up so I have to locked them out only for them to return the next time I use radio. I didn't see BART on the avoid list.. There is a way to check the avoid list right? You can also make it permanent or temporary avoid?

If you do a temp lockout then it will come back when you turn the scanner back on. If you want to lock it out so it wont come back when you turn on click avoid twice and it will do permanent lockout.

Yes you can review your list of permanent lockouts dont have my scanner in front of me so I cant tell you how.

Guys, you are making the situation more confusing. We don't even know of he can even receive the freqs yet. If he can't, then what everyone is telling him to do is just a waste of time.

Before you do ANYTHING ELSE, see if you can receive the frequencies conventionally then get back to us.

I used to be able to monitor BART on my other scanners but BART changed over to a new system which is why I had to get a 436. I have a ST2 antenna, Spectum Force antenna on car as well as the Uniden GPS antenna. There must be a way to program this 436 like a conventional program scanner where you just enter the freqs.
