The black is for alkaline cells and is missing the charging contact. The yellow is for rechargeable cells. Even if you put rechargeables in the black holder, they will not charge.
Started polish the copper on the board to mask and replate the contacts with gold plating/
Was a complete mess, as battery leak acid everywhere. Was able to neutralize acid and removed all corrosion out of battery compartment. Looks like noting happened.
It depends on issue. If it simple as broken USB port then around $40 to $50 bucks. Component level repair, or PCB board damage then usually cost more Depends on model and issue. Good thing is pretty much can fix almost any issue, so long not a custom IC that can't be obtain, or crack multi layer board,
If it smaller I usually work on them right away, same as the WS1080 you sent. Only larger item like amplifiers, reel to reel decks, or test gear take a bit longer, as run out of space and have to clear a spot first.
This is the 2nd scanner retropcdos has fixed for me in the past couple weeks . I couldnt be more pleased ....Great work !! Replaced usb port on whistler ws1080 and now this .
Everyone else please don't charge batteries in radios, as this is what happens. Use a good charger that has separate channels. A lot of others recommended some good ones in the past, here one good one, or the lacross, or MAHA powerex chargers. Recommend Eneloop batteries, stay away from the cheap china ones on eBay's that claim high mAh, as they are fake and lying.
