Anyone have a source or leads on a heavy leather case for the BCD436HP?

I've checked the usual places (Ebay, Amazon) with no luck.

I'm hoping I don't have to get one custom made.

Thanks!!

I will second the cases that Scanner Master sells. High quality, rugged and tough. Dropped the scanner a few times, and the case protected it well each time with no damage. Well worth the price and investment in the hobby.

I've been searching for a decent case for my 436 for several years now with no luck. To be clear, the above mentioned case does not fit that definition or meet my needs.

Looks like a good case to me.

What are you seeing wrong with it?

It's aesthetically displeasing for one. Maybe if I was much older and wore my phone in a holster on my belt...

Something like this is what I've been after, more 21st century. But I'm sure Uniden never manufactured enough scanners to make producing modern aftermarket cases profitable.

Ah, ok.

I wouldn't mind something like that, but I guess I'm used to the heavy leather cases/holsters that I carry my LMR radio with. And I'm old.

I won't necessarily be carrying the scanner on my belt, it's more for when the cat jumps up on my side table and knocks **** off.
I'd rather not have her damage a $500 plus scanner.

I don't have cats, but I do have rambunctious pugs who at times think they're cats. I wonder how heavy this is? Uniden Bcd436hp Scanner Stand Black | eBay

The clear plastic window does get scratched over time. I protect the radio display with a cell phone screen protector and remove the case clear plastic when it becomes unbearable.

Some of the carry cases are aftermarket. Scanner Master designed a case for the SDS100, submitted it to the manufacturer and sells it. That particular case was more problematic to design due to the need for air circulation around the scanner while in the case. The SDS100 gives off some heat due to the SDR microprocessor, and a means of dissipating that heat needed to be observed. It comes with vent holes on each side to the case towards the back on the low end and room behind the upper end of the scanner, back side to allow for the swivel post (which acts as a spacer to keep the case away from the scanner. (That post should not be removed when using the case.)

The hard-leather case is worth it's weight in gold. I have experience countless drops of my 436HP. I highly recommend this case.

As far as I know ScannerMaster is the only one selling cases for the 436. I bought the Soft Nylon case for mine and have no complaints at all.

Anyone have a case suggestion for an sds100 with internal gps and the swivel post removed?

Scanner Master has the selection of cases. But if you go with the heavy leather case you should put the swivel post back on the radio. It acts as a spacer, allowing air circulation. Otherwise you may shorten the life of the scanner due to a lack of circulation.

The best case I ever had was constructed by an "inmate" with a "piddling card" in the Texas Prison system. The Warden allowed me to let this "convict" measure the radio (battery removed). It was solid! Many of the "convicts" have said privileges. In fact, one "inmate" made saddles, holster, and cop belts for LE and TDCJ guards. Reportedly, he had over $100, 000 in his account. I could not believe this, but a Warden told this to me.

You can't. The GPS lives where the post mount screw goes, and if you try, you'll damage the GPS patch antenna and/or jam the GPS module board into the rear RF board.

If you use the fat battery, that enforces enough of a gap in the rear to keep the unit happy, even in the nylon case. Badonkadonk is a good thing sometimes.
