No you aren't...you're trying to continue arguing your point which is unfounded and incorrect.

The reason anyone thinks that there are shipping delays, etc., is because Uniden has been MORE than up front and open about the coming product and providing much MORE information to consumers than other companies do (Apple, etc.). That is why this discussion is even taking place.

If they had withheld the information until, say, next Friday to say "hey we have a new scanner...it's available NOW from your favorite retailer!" then we would be nowhere near where we are now on information about its features and being able to have the software setup and ready to go when it does arrive. That is something everyone should be THANKFUL for instead of complaining about.

You are obviously right and I am wrong no matter what my opinion and facts are. I never said there were delays (read the post you quoted) and I never said wait til the day of release to announce anything as you are claiming here. Obviously Uniden can do no wrong to you. All I have repeatedly said is that Uniden did give January as date for release. They chose to do that, not me. But on January 22, they still don't have a date to list as available. Something is not right with that. Look at every company including Apple that you mentioned and that does not happen.

Your beef is not with Uniden. I'm sure the dates are concrete for when the units ship out to the distributors, but most of us don't interface with a distribution warehouse, we shop at and talk to our favorite retail outlet which is two steps downstream in the supply chain. What your missing is Uniden doesn't control where these things go. Once they leave DFW for the distribution centers that's it for them. Any mom and pop shop with varied retail set ups and resources can offer to sell you one as long as their distributor carries it. The other products you are referring to where the dates are well publicized is where distribution is tightly controlled from start to finish by the manufacturer by using a limited reseller network. Your claim that because Uniden can't predict when distributors will make the scanner available to retail outlets is indicative of how they do business is ridiculous - they've always taken care of us.
Not entirely correct. I just want Uniden to say "The 436's are enroute to the distributors as of xx/xx/xxxx." At least then we would be able to extrapolate a possible date of receipt, but as it stands we have no idea - it could be a week, could be a month. They know where the shipment is right now, they know when the containers will be removed from the ship, they know when the trucks will be leaving the docks, they know when the trucks will be arriving at the warehouses - all with a certainty measured in hours, not days or weeks. They were able, after all, to expedite shipment and delivery to certain groups of people, so they are obviously in possession of the shipping schema.

Actually, the correct way to say this is...on January 22nd WE on RR do not have an exact date. To suggest Uniden is lost and doesn't know either is naive. I can assure you they know where they are. And they are under no obligation to tell us.

As Paul did with the 536, rest assured he will do it with the 436 when they are en route to the distributors.

Deep breaths, folks. The scanners will arrive in due time. Let's get excited about the features, not worried they are lost or mad because we don't have their exact location. They aren't due until the last week of January or first week of February, anyway - that's another 7 - 14 days. We'll make it!

Good grief, it' just a freakin' scanner, not a heart going to a transplant patient. Is it really that important that you know the exact day it's leaving the warehouse? So Uniden decided not to release that information to us, BFD. If I had preordered one, i would not be getting all worked up. I would be saying it will be here when it gets here.

You have now done a great job of assuming and misquoting me again. People like you are why I avoid these forums.

And I thought a Apple had fanboys.

OK so now back to the scanner. Does anyone know how the recording works? Can it be set up to record whenever the scanner is turned on our do you need to initiate the recording each time?

I would love for Paul (UPMan) to post that they are headed to the distributor or retailers or whatever he can. I am also confident he will do so when he can do so. That's all we know and all we can know (and is actually more than we are entitled to...).

You have to start recording every time you turn on the radio.

I just like following the thread and watching the hand-wringing going on. I just figured when I pre-ordered it back in December I was putting my name in the hat, and that I will see it when it gets here. Nothing more, nothing less.

I still enjoy my HP-1E and 396.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you.

Can you listen back to the audio while the recording is still going on? I mean can you use it like DVR and jump back to hear things that you just missed.

Stop and think about this "release date" stuff for a minute!!! By not publicly stating that the scanners will be available on a certain date, you guys that pre-ordered are actually getting them sooner than you would if a specific date had been announced. When Apple or Samsung gives a specific date, some stores are sitting on stock in the back room for days or weeks until the scheduled date.

Apparently Ham Station started shipping their stock on Wednesday 1/22. It takes a day longer for a truck to get from DFW to Universal in Colimbus OH than it does to get to Ham Station, and yet one or two more days to get to Scanner Master in Massachusetts. If a specific date had been published, Ham Station would have had to hold back and not ship until both Universal and Scanner Master had received their shipment. Uniden did everyone a favour by not publishing a ship date which allows the dealers to ship to the customer immediately instead of holding back.

Well put.

I ordered from Ham Station. Mine was shipped 1/21 from CARROLLTON, TX. Should get it Fri.

All I have repeatedly said is that Uniden did give January as date for release.
Paul said, in this post:

At this point, it looks like the 536 will arrive closer to the 3rd week of January with the 436 at the end of January or beginning of February.

As it turns out, the 536 is shipping now...in the third week of January...just as Paul said.

We have not yet reached "the end of January or beginning of February" when Uniden expects the 436 to arrive.

I think you've adequately made your point that you are unhappy with the seemingly ambiguous shipping dates provided by Uniden. I also think it's time to move on.

You have to start recording every time you turn on the radio.

I'll add that it's same as the HP-1, you can do a "replay" of the comms being recorded up to 240 seconds, or you can set the radio to record everything when the squelch is broken.

And as Jay points out, the radio won't allow you to hear (or record) the audio being recorded during playback, but it does work a lot like a digital voice recorder.

Are the 436 Re-Furbs available yet?

Not being funny, but this is a joke isn't it? Seeing as how the first shipment has not been received by buyers yet, where would the refurbs come from?
