Just got my 436, this was well worth the money I would have spent on the wife's Christmas gifts. Great job Uniden and great job to Hamstation, ordering and delivery went perfect. Very Happy am I.

We are in the same boat!!! Or should I say the same dog house now.

Meanwhile, everyone who ordered their 436 from Scanner Master is still waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting... I'm about ready to get in the car and drive to Boston at this rate.

Its like picking what you thought was the quickest checkout line, and looking around then notice it ends up being the slowest.

Fatal Error

I made the fatal error of ordering my 436 first, then asking the wife. She wasn't crazy about the idea, but today said "OK." Problem is it may come TODAY. How does one explain that away?

I stayed away from Scanner Master after I saw they were charging for shipping. I'm glad I went they way I did ordering from someone else who sent it out within 24 hours.

OFDM beat me to it! Show her the video about the Amazon drones and how you got picked to be a beta tester! For even better effect, pay a neighbor kid to fly his remote control helicopter away from your house at a fast speed at a designated time.

My wife likes to sit at her computer where a sliding glass door is behind her leading out front. I could jump on the roof from the back of the house, walk to the roof just over top of her, and drop a big box behind her outside on the sidewalk. I could weigh it down with some rocks to make a big "bang" when it hits. She saw the drones..maybe she would buy it huh?

Greg, I live in Buffalo Grove. I can keep it hidden for you until, say... Tuesday? With that work for you? Or, if not, maybe someone's wife gets an anonymous call regarding a certain scanner that suddenly arrived.. it might not look real good for you then capice?

I appreciate the thought, but I will have to take my lumps...if it comes today. I'm not happy as it is coming thru the post office, and they are terrible. As usual, when you put the tracking number in, the post office site NEVER has any info on it. Then the day after it arrives they say it is "on route" or something like that. Also,. We caught the guy literally throwing a box on our porch from about ten feet away. Lucky it was not breakable, but I saw this with my own two eyes. I have a complaint on file with the post office.

Well, the post office just showed up and no package. Thats good, but it also irritates me as it is coming from a city about 50 miles from my house. It was shipped yesterday.

Well, probably tomorrow. I hope !

How exactly does "Set Charge Time" work?
I understand that you can set the charge time.. but does the scanner know when the batteries are full?

Also, when I get the scanner.. I plan on hooking it up to my pc and leaving it for 50 hours.. my question is this.. if I unhook it for any reason, will this cause any issue with the internal clock batteries? I want to make sure they get a proper initial kickstart.

The scanner only knows when the charge time expires. There is no way to detect that the batteries are full when charging NiMH batteries in series.

You don't have to leave it plugged in for a continuous 50 hours. That is just how long it takes to fully charge the internal backup battery. It can be a few hours here, a few hours there.

They need to keep it like it was up until now; to be able to see the RIDs while Holding on a TG, encrypted or not. Would be nice to give us a choice also to skip or not to skip encrypted TGs while scanning.

cellphone said:
-More Encrypted talkgroup quirks – With the 436HP, there is no way to tell if an encrypted talkgroup is active if you are holding on it. If you are scanning, you see ENC flash up quickly. If you hold on it, you cannot tell if it is active or not. When holding on a talkgroup, you can tell on the 536HP as it will display ENC, the 436 does not.

Just got mine and got it scanning the Loudoun Co VA P25 phase 2 system. I've never had decoding issues on this system with my 396 or PSR800. No issues with the 436 either. One thing that does standout is the audio quality. I thought my PSR800 audio wasn't as good as the 396XT. Well, the 436 so far sounds worse than the PSR800. Not as crisp, more bassy. The audio also comes out about 1/4 second later than the PSR. The 436 echos the PSR.

The 436 does lock on to an active channel faster than the PSR though. It also goes from off to scanning quite a bit sooner than the PSR.

Still not getting Analog

I believe by default "Multi-Service Dispatch" is disabled, so you would probably need to enable it.

The multi-service dispatch is enabled. It was enabled the initial load from the factory. Any other ideas?

Sweet!!

Thank you UpMan!!!

One more question.
I am pretty sure the answer is yes, but I wanted to make sure. Does the internal battery charge when hooked up to USB and scanning?

Thank you again,
