I have a BCD996XT scanner & want to config the weather into the scanner. I live in Peoria County and listen to the weather on 162.475. the S.A.M.E frequency is 017143. I use the ARC-XT software. I purchased the
"Uniden XT Scanner Manual" but after reading the manual I still don't understand how to set up weather for Peoria County so I get the weather warning for storms & tornadoes. I read the manual again, & I just don't get it. it surely isn't this hard to config................ early thanks for any help you might give .

Uniden XT Scanner Manual" I purchased, is the hard copy of the internet site you spoke of. I read the book but for some reason I still dont understand how to set up S.A.M.E. in the radio. Thank you for your intent. I appreciate your time.

Ok maybe this will help you.

Press the MENU button.
Scroll to the WX Operation and push the function knob.
Scroll to PROGRAM SAME. Click Funciton knob.
Select which SAME you want to program, (1-5) and press the function knob.
Scroll to Edit Name, press the function knob.
Use the function knob to select which letter, and use the keys 4 to move cursor left, 6 to move right.
When finished press the function knob.
Scroll to Edit County, press function knob.
Scroll to code number you want to program (1-8). Press the function knob.
Enter the correct FIPS code for your county. Press the function knob when done.
Press Menu twice to return and select a different SAME group to program.
When done press Menu a couple times to return to scanning.

You can find FIPS codes in this directory. NOAA Weather Radio

If this happens to NOT help you, please specify what your not understanding.

Again, I hope this helps! Good Luck!

with the new directions, I was able to enter the S.A.M.E. codes and configure that portion quite easily.
Now I have a new problem. the weather station is forever talking. It is supposed to be quiet until they activate the S.A.M.E code. Is this an "easy fix" ?

No problem! Now heres where I cant exactly help you out that much since I dont have much experience with the weather operations. I know on my scanner, the weather station is always on and talking when in weather scan mode. Now as far as I understand, when you select the weather alert mode, my scanner is silent until there is an alert.
